In modern society, it is important of eye for capacity to contact, discern, and choose multi-culture under the age of fast-paced information, too. At the same time, the culture is called as objective thing because a person's sense of value is always involved when we use space and matter in this modern society. Therefore, it shows that the culture is subjective choice in order to express his or her idea. To achieve it the modern society tells us force of improving our eye for understanding and taking arts in this modern society. As the arts occupy a position near our life the material for artistic expressions are also developing in its sort and quality under the society rapidly developed, and the whole matter in our life is to be object of expression. As for the meaning of material in art education, it is selected by the children. In addition, it needs to establish meaningful relation that the children have, not recognized as matter of expressing art. Also, it needs to know how the material meets with the children and can be understood through the art education. The material can be considered as object of process of another realization in order to know the art, and it can be recognized as important existence in process of preparation for proposal of expression of realization rather than the expression to the children. As for the art activity that the children can meet autonomously, it starts with interest and expectation. Furthermore, it can lead to search activity naturally, and there is difference definitely compared with the art activity to be proceeded that teachers become a mainstream. In addition, the true aim of art education in the school is to extend the children's self-experience through various formative activities by making the most of characteristics of art curriculum, enhance force of aesthetic self-education, and furthermore, help self-growth for themselves as materialization of aesthetic human. The existing textbooks define material as methodic expression, and suggest a method as means of expression. The material is to be expressed as object of aestheticism by its own selection in physical beauty.
Accordingly, it needs to proceed to complete it as one of formative works by selecting material and subject, etc. suitable for their own ones. On a basis it needs to make structure of content for aesthetic experience activities unified with understanding and appreciation. The material is to be expressed as meaningful object by its own choice. In actual activities, it needs to be applied as wider meaning in means of expression. Also, the recognition should be extended as means in meaning that expresses its own meaning. As to the material in the art education, this study is to interpret the viewpoint of material differently as meaning the children have, and grope for approach as autonomous art activities that the children can attach meanings to the material.
