일탈성 체험이 축제만족에 미치는 영향 : 보령머드축제를 중심으로 = A Study of the Escapefulness Experience on Festival Satisfaction: A Case of Boryeong Mud Festival

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지방자치제가 실시된 이래 지역문화와 지역경제에 대한 관심이 높아지게 되면서 축제가 지역발전의 중요한 수단으로서 가치를 인정받고 있다. 하지만 오늘날 대부분의 축제는 지역문화창달이나 지역경제 활성화, 혹은 지역공동체 정신의 고양을 목적으로 개최되기 때문에 축제 방문객들에 대한 개인적 만족과 욕구를 채워줄 수 있는 축제는 보기 드문 실정이다.
축제의 즐거움은 일탈성을 체험하고 맛보는 것이라 할 수 있는데, 이때의 일탈성은 학문적 용어로써 비일상성, 무질서, 난장트기 등으로 표현된다. 일탈성은 축제 체험 요소중 가장 중요한 요소라 할 수 있으나, 현재 축제 체험의 일탈성에 대한 방문객들의 검증된 연구들이 부족하다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 일탈성 측정지표를 개발하여 실제 보령머드축제에 적용함으로써 일탈성 체험이 축제 전체만족에 미치는 영향을 검증하고자 하였다.
연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 선행연구와 더불어 축제에 다녀온 경험이 있는 대학원생 인터뷰를 통해 일탈성에 대한 개념을 도출하고, 축제와 관련된 전문가들을 통해 내용타당성 조사를 실시하였다. 문헌연구와 전문가조사를 토대로 가설을 일탈성 체험이 만족에 미치는 긍정적인 영향, 일탈성 체험이 행동의도에 미치는 긍정적인 영향, 축제에 대한 만족이 행동의도에 미치는 긍정적인 영향, 인구통계적인 특성(성별, 연령, 교육수준)에 따라 일탈성 체험과 만족도의 차이여부 등 4가지로 설정하였다. 이러한 가설을 검증하기 위해 설문조사 방법을 이용하였다. 자료수집은 2006년 7월 15일부터 17일까지 보령머드축제 참가자를 대상으로 조사가 실시되었으며, 총 338부의 설문지중 분석에 부적합한 23부를 제외하고 315부를 분석에 사용하였다. 조사결과 분석을 위해 SPSS 13.0 for Windows를 활용하여 빈도분석, 신뢰도분석, 요인분석, T-test, ANOVA, 회귀분석을 사용하였다.
연구결과 첫째, 일탈성 체험은 만족에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 일탈성 체험은 행동의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 축제에 대한 만족은 행동의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 방문객의 인구통계적 특성(성별, 연령, 교육수준)에 따른 일탈성 체험은 차이가 날 것이라는 가설은 지지되었다. 반면에 인구통계적 특성에 따른 만족에는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타나 가설은 지지되지 못하였다.
연구결과에 따른 시사점으로는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 방문객들이 일정 구역에서 머드체험에 푹 빠지기 위해서는 축제행사장이 확대될 필요가 있다. 둘째, 젊은층을 겨냥한 좀 더 익사이팅(Exciting)하고 스릴(Thrill)있는 프로그램 개발이 필요하다. 셋째, 머드축제 참가자의 만족을 높이기 위한 놀이 규칙을 구성할 필요가 있다. 마지막으로 축제기획 담당자에 대한 전문기관의 교육 및 다른 지역의 우수사례에 대한 연수기회를 확대할 필요가 있다.
본 연구는 일탈성 측정지표를 개발하여 실제 보령머드축제에 적용함으로써 일탈성 체험이 축제만족에 미치는 영향을 검증하고 이를 통해 축제기획과 관리를 위한 방안에 유용한 기초자료를 제시하였다는데 연구의 의의가 있다. 앞으로 일탈성 및 축제 체험속성에 대한 측정 항목의 개발과 다양한 축제에의 적용을 통해 축제 체험속성에 대한 후속연구가 지속적으로 이루어지길 바란다.

Since the implementation of the local autonomy system, the local culture and economy have been one of major interests and the festival has been considered as a means of regional development and public information. But, many festivals have not met the requirement and satisfaction of visitors because the goal of most festivals was the activation of regional economy or political achievement or sprit exaltation of regional community.
Escapefulness defines as the escape needs, disorder and indiscriminate beating it sprouts and is one of important elements of festival experience. But, there were no many researches that studied the escapefulness of festival experience in terms of visitor and the research on the relation between escapefulness experience and the festival satisfaction was needed.
Therefore, this paper introduced the measurement index of festival escapefulness based on the previous works and evaluated the affection of festival escapefulness to the festival satisfaction. Finally, we suggested the planning and management of festival. The period of data collection was from July 15th to 17th 2006 and we surveyed visitors of Boryeong mud festival. 315 valid questionnaires were collected out of 338 questionnaires distributed.
We used the literature review and empirical research to get to our goal. For the analysis of empirical research data, we used a frequencies analysis, a reliability analysis, a factor analysis, T-test, ANOVA and regression analysis with SPSS 13.0 program for Windows.
The result of empirical methodology showed several issues as bellows:
First, the escapefulness experience affected the visitor satisfaction positively.
Second, the escapefulness experience positively affected the behavioral intention positively.
Third, the festival satisfaction positively affected the behavioral intention positively.
Forth, the level of escapefulness experience of visitors was different with their demographical characteristics such as sex, age, education.
Based upon the overall this study, several broad recommendation can be drawn, which may function as policy implications for the mud festival.
First, festival area is needed to expand for real experience of mud of visitor.
Second, it is needed to develop more exciting and thrill program for young target market.
Third, it has to make game rules for visitor satisfaction.
Finally, festival planners are gone into training from technical education and other successful festival.
The results of this study are expected to provide substantial contribution to the festival planning and management in local government. For a better understa nding of festival, more studies and analysis are recommended in the context of festival escapefulness.
