It is the most important to understand in full someone who comes to talk in art therapy. Although there are many methods to practice it, in a large way there would be two methods; objective self-report inspection and projective inspection.
With general disadvantages of insufficiency of confidence and appropriateness, the projective inspection is useful for us to get various responses from the tested, make the tested's defense against the tester difficult with a diversity of responses to the first stimulation and use private and specific information about the tested.
On the contrary, with the higher level of reliability and validity, the objective psychological inspection is constructed through verification and researches for a long time and frequently in use. But it also has the disadvantage of exclusion of the influence of private response-types. The most important issue of them is social desirability, that is, the inclination to make a socially right response rather than a truthful response.
It seems to me that it is necessary for many-sided understandings of the younger generation in the line with social diversification to investigate the relations between the objective and projective inspection and interpret them suitably and selectively.
The purpose of this study is the relations between the standard character inspection(PAI-A) and the figure inspection(DAP) on girl students at a high school.
In the first place, I offered two sheets of white paper in the size of A4(210×279mm) to 500 first-year students in a B girl's high school located in In-Cheon. In the second place, I got them to draw a figure painting and write out a supplementary written inquire. Lastly, I used the standard criterion by Dr. Oodomosigeru(大伴?) in Japan to analyze them.
Specific issues of the study are as follows.
1. Which relations are between each mark on the basis of the Oodomo(大伴?)'s figure painting analytic criterion?
2. Which relations are between each characteristic primary factor on the basis of the subordinate measure of the standard inspection(PAI-A)?
According to these two criteria, the results of the analytic criterion are as follows.
In relation to the first issue, the result of the analysis of relationship between each code in Oodomo(大伴?)'s figure painting inspection shows that the factor of correlation of F and M is '-0.226' which means an unsuitable correlation because of 'p〈.05', And that of F and C is '0.252' which means a static correlation because of 'p〈0.05'.
In relation to the second issue, it also shows the static correlation between Anxiety-Related Disorder(ARD) and F as well as between Paranoia(PAR) and F(r=.232, r=.266, p〈.05), and the unsuitable correlation both between SCH and DRG(r=-.409, p〈.001) and between RXR and M(r=-.238, p〈.001).
In conclusion, it is difficult to make the relations on account of theoretically different bases though it is useful in the statistics.
On the basis of these analytic results, this study can be helpful to understand the younger generation through the psychological approach of a figure painting and lead them to understand and identify and rediscover themselves by their own drawings and make a harmonious relationship with their surroundings at the present time for their life.
