As Korea became an aging society starting from the year of 2000, problems of aging, which had been considered as those of old people who was living the third life and of their families, have become problems of the whole society in Korea. Accordingly providing for old age is considered important at this time, and this study is made to get hold of provision for old age and preference for welfare service of adults, and then to prepare for source materials to be utilized in preparing for policy toward old people and in improving welfare service for old people, to provide for future aged society.
The materials in this study were collected through circulating questionnaires to male /female adults in their 20 to 60 years of age, who are considered as preliminary old people, in the Capital area and the number of materials used for analysis is 240. The materials collected were analysed by SPSS WIN 12.0. For the tools used in this study, I consulted the tools that Choi Sang-ho (2005) had used, and modified and complemented them to correspond with the purpose and the characteristics of this study, and used frequency analysis, cross tabulation analysis with SPSS WIN 12.0 for analysis of materials.
The results of this study are summarized as following.
First, common features of those questioned are that female 54.2% (130 persons) was more than male and that the persons in their 20 to 30 years of age were the most 62.1% (149 persons) and that the persons who graduated from university were the most 49.2% (118 persons) and that married persons were 57.9% (139 persons) and that persons who had their own house were 65.8% (158 persons) and that persons who had no child were 43.3% (104 persons) and that healthy persons were 53.3% (128 persons).

To the question whether they want to live in welfare facilities for old people in their old age, the correspondents who said that they would live there if the cost of living there would be lower than that of general houses 38.7% (92 persons) were the most. And, the answer - because they would be able to live convenient life owing to convenient facilities for old people 43.4% (49 persons) showed that they are emphasizing convenience rather than service. In prospect of the welfare service for old people in Korea, the answer - it would be expanded and popularized like advanced countries 38.8% (92 persons) showed affirmative opinion on welfare service for old people.
Fourth, in result of verifying differences in provision for old age according to the characteristics of those questioned, significant differences were shown by age, marriage and number of children among the characteristics of those questioned.
Fifth, in result of verifying differences in welfare service for old people according to the characteristics of those questioned, it is shown that preference for welfare facilities for old people has significant differences by age, school career, marriage and number of children, and whether they would use welfare facilities for old people has significant differences by age, marriage and number of children. It is shown that quiet country 36.5% (56 persons) is preferred the most as the place, and this means they prefer quiet resting life to city life in their old age, but there is no significant differences.
Taken together, the results show that there is tenuous substantial provision even as interest in provision for old age is high. In consideration of those who know nothing about existence of such service facilities and where to get information, it would be tried to make efforts to expand publicity and information supply about provision for old age and welfare facilities for old people.
