In this thesis, I studied on the effect of the appearance satisfaction and the sex difference on self-efficacy, school-related adjustment and achievement motivation for the elementary school students. 529 elementary school students (286 boy students and 243 girl students) were subjected to the analysis, where the sex difference(boy and girl students) and the appearance satisfaction (high score group and low score group in the appearance satisfaction questionnaire) were used as the independent variables(2x2) in 2 factorial design analysis.
The result of analysis was that the children with higher satisfaction in appearance showed significantly higher degrees in the self-efficacy, school-related adjustment and achievement motivation than the children with lower satisfaction in appearance. For the sex difference, girl students showed better school-related adjustment than boy students, but no significant difference was shown in self-efficacy and achievement motivation. And there was no significant correlation between the two independent variables.
