    「Ubiquitous computer」is the one which is equipped with self-regulated and intelligent form irrespective of places. That is to say, tiny computers are installed in several objects or surroundings and connected with network. It steps up the embedded pervasive style which enables us to get information from computers and provides us with much more mobility owing to the microminiaturization of computer devices.
    The learning on the basis of ubiquitous environment isn't standardized or compulsory, but enables lots of learners to study according to their individual needs. And the students' learning space isn't restricted to schools or classrooms, but the spaces in the real world can be learning spaces.
    * A dissertation is partial requirement for doctor of philosophy
    However in the ubiquitous environment, classrooms, which are traditional learning spaces, are likely to remain as before. The real point is that the ubiquitous environment suggests the learning space of long-distance places without classrooms, and how the ubiquitous environment can change the present classroom surroundings into the effective learning spaces.
    In this dissertation, we investigated the limits and requirement of the e-learners, analyze the researches and cases of practical uses in-and-out of the country, and propose an u-STC model which is suitable for the educational paradigm of new era based on the e-learning and ubiquitous environment, and enables the long-distance learners to do co-learning in line with learners' situations.

    The u-STC model is composed of three models, S-model for the learner's situational recognition, T-model for instructer's lesson model, and C-model for the classroom surroundings for instructers and learners.

    The u-STC model which combines the existing classroom surroundings with the environmental characteristics of the ubiquitous makes 1 to 1 learning possible, providing various mobile devices with the contents which satisfy the ubiquitous attributes. And we gave a carful consideration that it should have the educational characteristics which are learner's situational recognition, co-learning in which the learners can discuss one anther, and the interaction between instructers and learners.
