Ⅰ. Purpose of the study
In the research papers and documents regarding future vocational selection of university students, individual ability, aptitude, character, interest, and so on are suggested as factors that influence vocational selection.
The western society contains individualism which relatively attaches very low importance in the distinction of one's rank, which these factors become a decisive role when choosing one's vocation.
On the contrary, in our country, rather than individual ability and aptitude, reputation and rank, the two external aspects, function as decisive factors when choosing one's vocation.
Among the above explanation, the reason why the representative element is highly relevant to the image of such vocation as one's future vocation and university students' vocation selection is because vocation corresponds to one's own image.
Therefore, the research dealt with the subordinate factors of the vocational image university students want, and went through positive analysis regarding the congruity between preference vocational image and self image, and to accomplish the said research objectives, three hypotheses were established based on concept research and positive research, and a review was held through collected survey data.
The measuring tools for the research referred to the Vocational Perception Examination of Koreans (Kim Byung Sook, 1998), Analysis of Vocational Perception & Career Path concerning Middle School Students (Kim Byung Sook, 2005), Analysis of Physiognomy Formation Dimension regarding Personality Character Epithet.(Kim Sung Hee, 1982), using a modified and developed survey.
The survey for the research is largely composed of vocational image, realistic·idealistic self image, and the part questioning one's Career path. As a result of factor analysis regarding each survey questions, a total of 8 factors were extracted - three factors, pursuit of power, priority in money, pursuit of security for the external vocational value. Another three factors, one's ability, devotion to society, concentration on human relation for the internal vocational value, and finally, the remaining two factors, intellectual estimation and social estimation for vocational impression.
The self image (realistic·idealistic) was measured by the same standard regarding the vocational image, and went through an analysis of consentaneity using the Absolute Difference Model.
As for the career path, three factors, accomplishment focused type, negotiation focus type, and non scheduling type were extracted.
Ⅱ. Method of Study
In the positive research, a collection rate of 84.1% was presented after distributing 1000 (500 each) survey sheets during two weeks from May to June, 2006 regarding University and College students, and among these, 804 sheets which were judged as valuable data were analyzed using the SPSSWIN 12.0, a statistics program, performing factorial analysis, reliability measurement, frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and linear regression analysis. The results of the analyzed research are as follows.
