The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between female technical high school students' perceived Family Environment, Self-Concept and Emotional Intelligence and the effects of self-concept and family environment on students' emotional intelligence.
To investigate the role of family environment and self-concept to emotional intelligence technical high school female students, 425 students were surveyed. The scale/instrument used for this data were[Emotional Intelligence Scale](Moon, Yong-Lin, 1997), [Self-Concept Scale](Song, In-sub,1982) and [Family Environment Scale](Jung, Won-sik, 1990), the collected data analysed by SPSS program(version, 12.0).
For the purpose of this study, following issues were discussed; The first was to examine the student's family environment and self-concept to emotional intelligence differ from their grade.
The second was to examine the correlation between family environment, self-concept and emotional intelligence.
The third was to examine the effects of family environment and self-concept on emotional intelligence.
The result showed that students' emotional intelligence different from students' grade. Second grade students' emotional intelligence were higher than first grade students'.
Second, the correlation between technical high school female students' self-concept and emotional intelligence was significant positive relationship. The higher their self-concept level, the higher student's emotional intelligence.
In other to see the impact of family environment, self-concept on emotional intelligence, multiple regression analyses were applied. These finding indicate that self-concept, academic self-concept was more strong predictors of technical high school female student's emotional intelligence than family envrionment. Especially, academic self-concept is more influenced on perception, regulation and employing of emotion and social self-concept is more influenced on emotion expression and emotional empathy.
