The purpose of this research was to discover the effect media has on creative writing in young children's essays. Young children have come into contact with media environment since their birth and come to be exposed to it as they grow up.
The research questions were as follows :
1. Is the creative writing ability distinguished by young children's on-line education time?
2. Is the creative writing ability distinguished by young children's on-line game time?
3. Is the creative writing ability distinguished by young children's electronic game activity time?
4. Is the creative writing ability distinguished by young children's watching TV time?
5. Is the creative writing ability distinguished by young children's reading time?
6. Is the creative writing ability distinguished by young children's learning material activity time?
The subjects of the research were 242 five-year-old young children who were attending kindergarten in Daegu. The study was conducted by distributing questionnaires to young children's homes, collecting them, reading 2 storybooks to the subject young children, stoping at the conflict situiation of the story, and letting them write on "What would happen next?" It took 10-member small groups about a month to get result.
The creative writing was scored according to subordinate factors such as flexibility, suitability, originality, elaborateness, imagination, fluency. According to media activity time, higher group and lower group were classified. In order to find out the relationship between media environment and young children's creative writing, this paper tried to prove the relationship between subordinate factor, creative writing, and higher group, lower group.
In this research, we it was found out that the relationship between media environment and crative writing, appropriatensess in the internet game and elaboration in electionic game and watching TV were different. In addition, there were differences in flexibility and originality by the extent of experiences with learning material activities. However, there was no difference according to other media eperiences.
