(Abstract)
The purpose of this thesis is to study the characteristics on the self-supporting process focusing on the anti-trafficking women's experiences. For this purpose, it investigates how the anti-trafficking women have prepared for changing their business through the government's self-supporting policy after the special law on curbing the sex trade and trafficking in women. Then it studies the problem accompanied with the process and the meaning of the anti-trafficking women's self-support.
The results of this thesis are summarized as follows.
First, the anti-trafficking women have been suffered from the physical, spiritual, and economic difficulties. Their self-support has the characteristics repeated in process of rescue - legal and medical support - psychological support - vocational training. Especially, the anti-trafficking women's self-support begins with the rehabilitation of the physical and mental health closely engaged with the psychological fitness. Because they have characteristics of the weak capacity of human resources, lack of confidence, fear for the relationship with others, the anti-trafficking women express the serious psychological difficulties in process of seeking their jobs. These situations have remained unchanged even after 3 years have passed since they had escaped the sex trade. Instead, their conditions have been growing worse after that.
Second, the self-supporting systems proceed now the steps of rescue - legal, medical, and psychological support - vocational training and entering a school - group home - starting a business. By the way, the actual supporting systems for the anti-trafficking women are very unstable. Housing shortages, difficulties of earning their livings, and temporary supports discourage the anti-trafficking women's will to self-support and make them flow back into the sex industries. Therefore, the constant self-supporting systems are to be needed until establishing the complete anti-trafficking from escaping the sexual trade businesses. And the various self-supporting models including the preparation courses for their affirmative change and start of business must be created.
Third, the women's experiences injured by sex industries aren't to be considered as the personal problem. For this is the problem that must be comprehended as the social contexts including the juveniles' issues, the violences on the women, the sexual discriminations as well as double sexual consciousness in Korean society. Accordingly, the anti-trafficking women's self-supporting system must not just be focused on the economic sides, but be set up the purpose fitted to their real demand on the basis of the anti-trafficking women's experiences participating in the self-supporting project.
Getting out of the existing notion of self-support having been focused until now, we must make a demand for a new paradigm on the anti-trafficking women's self-support. Therefore, based on the recognition for the feminist self-support, it must be very important for us to read their demands and differences through the anti-trafficking women's experiences.
