The object of history education in elementary school is to cultivate students' interests in history and historical consciousness as a pre-study of national history education in junior high school.Currently, the history education of 7th revision for the 6th grade’s curriculum is based on chronological study, being discontinued from life-culture history education in the 5th grade’s curriculum.It is inappropriate for the 6th grade students to learn the whole outline of the national history in one semester, considering their recognition development level. We can maximize the effect of history education when the subjects of education and the lifestyles of students are integrated in one medium.This study suggests a teaching model in which we can integrate a curriculum of the 6th grade with the ones which students have studied upto the 5th grade by restructuring the various lifestyles of the ancient people.First, the subject of the life history class shall overview the life trend of the times. Therefore I compose the teaching program with the subject of “Goodle”, one of the icons of the ancient life style. We see how 'Goodle' has remained until now, transforming its style through the times when traditional Korean culture had been regarded as “old fashioned”.Second, being different from the folkloric approach of the current curriculum, I choose the society changes, as the subject for the life history class, in which we can understand 'Life style' with the stream of the times and search the causes of these changes.The Chapter 1 of ‘Social Change’ shows the rise and the fall of the dynasties, wars between the countries along with the development of weapons. Then, it explains the background of such development and ethical issues of the times. After learning this, the students shall be guided to apply this understanding of the history to current issues such as conflicts bewteen countries.The Chapter 2 restores the status system of Chosun Dynasty, providing chances in which the students can experience life and social difficulties of the times through the conflict between the status and the works of two artists; Yendam Kim, Myeong Kook, the humble and Kwan-A-Jae Jo, Yeong Suk, the noble.The main teaching methods in life history class are the use of proper narration, vivid experience of the history by multimedia and re-writing the history with their own point of views.This life history class can increase participation of the students and also provide the chance in which they can study the social phenomenon by themselves.In conclusion, this study can suggest the new teaching model of life history class, different from the history education of junior high school, by showing its stages with vivid experience of historical facts, reviewing and rewriting the history with their own views .
