전통복식의 현대적 활용화를 위한 웨딩드레스 디자인 연구 = (A) Study on Wedding Dress Design for Modern Application of Traditional Costumes

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날의 복식은 매스컴(mass media)과 인터넷의 발달로 패션 트렌드(fashion trend)라는 커다란 유행의 흐름에 따라 전 세계가 동시에 움직이고 있다. 우리나라 복식 또한 조선후기 서양의복의 도입을 시작으로 많은 변화를 거쳐 전통과 현대적인 것이 공존하고 있다. 또한 서구 문물의 도입과 함께 들어온 결혼예식과 예복 또한 한국적인 독창성이 결여된 채 서구 지향적으로 양식화되어 왔다.
따라서 본 연구에서는 이 같은 서양 중심의 의복문화를 개선하기 위한 노력으로 다른 어떤 복식보다 큰 의미와 가치를 가진 결혼예복에 한국전통의 조형미를 접목시켜 웨딩드레스 디자인에 활용하여 제시함으로써 전통한복을 현대적으로 활용화 하는데 그 목적이 있다.
이와 같은 활용화 과정을 구체적으로 보여주는 측면에서 선행연구논문, 단행본 및 다양한 사진자료를 중심으로 하는 이론적 연구와 심층면접방식의 설문조사를 통한 실증적 연구로 나누어 고찰하였다.
구체적인 연구내용으로는 첫째, 전통여성복식의 일반적 특성을 살펴보고 그 조형미를 형식미와 내용미의 측면에서 이론적으로 고찰하였다. 둘째, 웨딩드레스의 시대별 디자인 특성을 20세기 전, 후와 국내 도입 이후로 나누어 살펴보았다. 셋째, 심층면접 형식의 선호도 조사를 통하여 국내 웨딩드레스의 디자인 경향을 파악하여 현대적 활용화에 부합하는 디자인을 개발하여 4벌의 웨딩드레스를 제작하였다.
한국전통의 조형적 특성을 웨딩드레스 디자인에 반영하여 디자인을 제시한 결과 형태면에서는 전통한복의 창작미와 비례미를 활용하고 소재는 주로 전통실크를 사용하여 독특한 문양과 표면에서 느껴지는 고급스러움을 강조하였으며 색상은 전통의 소색과 그 색감이 유사한 밝은 베이지색을 중심으로 사용하였다. 에프터드레스의 경우 오간색의 하나인 녹(綠)색과 홍(紫)색을 오늘날의 트렌드에 조화시킨 파스텔컬러로 변형하여 부드러운 여성스러움을 나타내었고 이것은 선호도조사 결과에 따른 유행 컬러와도 일치하였다. 또한 부분적인 은박과 비딩으로 우아한 장식미를 살렸다.
본 연구는 이와 같이 현대복식의 한 분야인 웨딩드레스 디자인에 있어 한국적 독창성을 살리는 동시에 최근 웨딩드레스 트렌드를 반영하여 시대적으로 활용 가능한 디자인을 개발함으로써 전통복식의 활용화 방안을 제시해보았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As mass media and internet develop and fashion trend becomes a tendency, today's costumes change. With the introduction of western clothes at the end of Joseon Dynasty, our costume has undergone many changes and traditional and modern costumes have coexisted. In addition, wedding ceremony and formal dress introduced along with the Western civilizations have lost their Korean uniqueness and have conventionalized in a western manner.
Therefore, the purpose of this study was to utilize traditional Hanbok (Korean clothes) in a modern style by applying it into the design of wedding dress in connection with the formative beauty of Korean tradition in an effort to improve western-oriented costume culture.
This study examined a theoretical research based on previous research theses, books and various photo materials and an empirical research through an in-depth interviewing survey in the concrete utilization process.
Its concrete content included the following: first, the study looked theoretically into the general characteristics of traditional female costumes and examined formal beauty in terms of their beauty of form and content. Second, the study examined the characteristics of wedding dress design by each period by dividing the period into before and after the 20th century and after its introduction into Korea. Third, the study figured out the design trend of domestic wedding dress through the in-depth interview preference survey and produced four pieces of wedding dresses by developing design corresponding to modern application.
As a result of suggesting design by reflecting the formative characteristics of Korean tradition into wedding dress design, the beauty of creation and proportion in traditional Hanbok were used in form and traditional silk was mainly used, and unique patterns and luxuriousness felt from the surface were emphasized and traditional natural color and its similar color of bright beige were used. In case of after dress, one of five traditional colors, green and red were transformed into a pastel color in harmony with today's trend so as to represent delicate sense of femaleness and it corresponded also to the trendy colors from the result of a preference survey. Besides, partial beaten silver and beading were used to create graceful decorative beauty.
This study suggested a method of utilizing Korean traditional costumes by developing the design that could be used periodically in terms of reflecting wedding dress as well as of enhancing Korean uniqueness in wedding design, one of the fields in modern costume.
