The purpose of this study is to examine Perceived Parents' Children-rearing Behavior(PPCB as below sentence) and compare it according to the gender and age of the children, and to describe the degree of Self-Regulation of Children(SRC as below sentence), and to examine if children's gender and grade, parent's age and attainment of scholarship, a living level and mother's job etc. have any influence on SRC. And also to find out the relationship between SRC and PPCB as well as the consistency of it.
For carrying out this study, the subjects were randomly extracted 4th and 6th graders in 5 elementary schools in Jinhae and 454 students responded it(4th graders : 233, 6th graders : 221, male : 251, female : 203).
Through the process of the research and analysis, the results can be summarized as follows;
First, children perceive that mother is more affectionate and restrictive than father, and male students have more tendency to perceive their father is hostile than female students. 4th graders feel that their parents is affectionate more than 6th graders, and 6th graders feel that their parents are less restrictive more than 4th graders.
Second, in general elementary school students have comparatively high ability of SRC. The results also shows that female students are excellent than male students and 4th graders are excellent than 6th graders.
Third, PPCB shows that the children whose mother and father are more affectionate and less hostile have higher SRC than those children who aren't.
Finally, SRC is significantly strong when the children think their PPCB are consistent. The affectionate and self-regulative PPCB has positive influence of increasing SRC.
