농촌지역 중학생의 인터넷 중독에 관한 연구 = Study on the internet addiction of middle school students in farming community

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 컴퓨터 보급이 급속도로 늘어나면서 인터넷 이용률이 폭발적으로 증가하였다. ‘정보의 바다’라 불리는 인터넷은 청소년들에게 무한한 호기심을 충족시킬 수 있는 새로운 문화의 장이 되어왔다. 그러나 인터넷의 순기능과는 반대로 역기능이 큰 문제점으로 대두되고 있으며, 청소년시기의 많은 학생들에게 악영향을 미치고 있어 그 심각성이 더하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 인터넷의 영향을 가장 많이 받을 수 있는 청소년들을 대상으로 인터넷 중독 실태에 관한 연구를 하였다. 특히, 본 논문에서는 연구업적이 별로 축적되어 있지 않은 농촌지역에 소재하고 있는 진도군 진도읍 J중학교 1, 2, 3학년 학생 304명을 대상으로 농촌지역 중학생들의 인터넷 사용실태는 어떠한가? 인터넷 중독의 특징과 문제점은 무엇인가? 인터넷 중독에 따른 문제를 학생 스스로가 인식하고 있는가? 가정과 학교생활에서 인터넷 중독을 일으키는 환경적 요인은 무엇인가? 농촌지역의 중학생들은 여가시간을 어떻게 활용하고 있는가? 등을 알아보고자 설문조사를 통하여 빈도분석과 카이스퀘어 검정을 하였다. 그리고 농촌과 도시지역의 청소년들에게 인터넷 사용에 있어 어떤 차이가 있는지를 알고자 연구하였다. 설문지의 자료 분석은 한글 SPSS ver10.0을 사용하였다.
본 논문의 연구결과 농촌지역에도 각 가정에 컴퓨터가 많이 보급되어 대부분의 중학생들이 인터넷을 하고 있으며, 인터넷의 주 사용 용도로는 전체적으로 ‘게임과 채팅’을 가장 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 농촌지역 중학생들의 인터넷 중독실태를 알아본 결과 전체적으로 ‘잠재적 위험 사용자’가 55.3%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, ‘인터넷 중독자’집단의 비율은 9.2%로서 다른 선행연구보다 높게 나타났다. 이는 농촌지역이 청소년들을 위한 놀이 문화나 놀이공간이 부족하여 인터넷에 의존하는 학생이 도시지역에 비해 높게 나타난 것으로 보인다. 그리고 무엇보다 인터넷 중독을 예방하려면 컴퓨터를 ‘부모님 방’이나 ‘거실’에 설치하는 것이 바람직하며, 자녀의 컴퓨터 사용에 부모의 적극적인 통제가 있어야할 것으로 보인다. 부모의 컴퓨터 사용의 통제가 심할수록 자녀도 컴퓨터를 사용하기 전에 한 번 더 생각하고 사용하게 될 것으로 보이기 때문이다. 농촌지역 중학생들의 여가생활은 대부분 ‘인터넷을 한다’고 대답해 농촌지역 청소년을 위한 문화나 공간의 확보가 시급함을 말해주고 있다.
그리고 연구결과 도시와 농촌지역의 청소년에게 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미치는 변인들 중에서 뚜렷이 나타나는 차이점은 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 인터넷의 보편적인 특성 때문으로 보인다. 즉 인터넷은 시간과 공간을 초월하여 모든 정보를 공유할 수 있다. 빠른 정보의 전달과 획득으로 인해 신속하고 즉시 의사결정을 할 수 있고 전 세계에서 일어나는 모든 일들을 실시간으로 얻을 수 있다. 이러한 인터넷의 특징으로 인해 청소년들은 가장 많이 사용하는 게임이나 정보를 도시와 농촌지역구분 없이 동일하게 사용할 수가 있게 되었다. 따라서 인터넷 중독을 도시나 농촌으로 구분 지어 나타나는 현상이 아니라 보편적으로 일어나는 일반적인 현상으로 보여 진다.
인터넷 중독자를 위한 치료도 중요하겠으나 본 논문에서 ‘잠재적 위험사용자’집단의 비율이 가장 높게 나타난바 이들을 위한 인터넷 중독예방이 매우 시급하다. 우리 청소년들이 인터넷에 중독되기 전에 미리 차단할 수 있는 예방대책과 중독되었을 경우 이를 효과적으로 치료할 수 있는 방안, 즉 개인적 차원, 가정적 차원, 학교적 차원, 국가적 차원으로 나누어 인터넷 중독 예방책을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As computers have distributed rapidly, internet usage rate has increased tremendously. Interent, called as 'the ocean of information,' has been the new cultural stage for the youth to satisfy their infinite curiosity. However, its reverse function is appearing as big problem, which makes the problem seriously since it takes bad effect on youth. Thus, the study is to look into the internet addiction realities of youth who could be influenced by internet a lot. The subjects are 304 students, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders at J middle school in Jundo-eup, Jindo-kun which is located in farming village having a few studies. The research was conducted by questionnaires and processed by chi-square test, which was about the internet usage realities of middle school students in farming village, the features and problems of interne addiction, the students' understanding for the problems of internet addiction, the environmental factors of internet addiction at home and school, and the spare time of middle school students in farming village and so on. Besides, it is to study the difference between middle school students in the city and the farming village in terms of internet usage. The data was analyzed by Korean SPSS ver10.0.
The results are as the followings. As computers are distributed to many regions in farming village, most of middle school students use internet and they enjoy 'game and chatting' most. In terms of the internet addiction realities,55.3% is 'potential serious user', which has the largest percentage, and 9.2% is 'internet addicted' group, which showed higher percentage than the precedent studies. It seems that youth in farming village has not enough cultures and plays so that they enjoy internet a lot more that students in the city.
It'd be better place computer in 'parents' room' or 'living room' in order to prevent internet addiction and parents should control the youth with active attitude when they use internet. It's because that as parents control youth for using computer with more active attitude, they could think about it before using computer.
The most of middle school students in farming village answered that 'they use internet', which implicates that it is urgent to secure proper culture and cultural place for them. Besides, variable for internet addiction seems not to be clearly different between the students in the city and the farming village. It's may because of the general character of internet. In other words, internet makes us share every information anytime and anywhere. Since we get and deliver information rapidly, we could work on quick decision making and receive news from all over the world immediately. Since internet has such features, both youth in city and farming village could use internet for game or information in the same condition. Therefore, internet addiction seems to be the general phenomenon, which is generally appeared both in city and farming village without difference.
It is important to provide proper treatment for internet addict. However, it is also very urgent to prevent internet addiction since the rate of 'potential serious user' is shown at very largest percentage d in the study. I've presented prevention plan and effective treatment plan for youth internet addiction, which could be done by individual, home, school and government.
