The purpose of this study was to pay attention to meditation activity as an important basis which can educate the attitude of recognizing oneself, and further of admitting and respecting others, and to examine which effect the program based on this, has upon the explicit behavior and the intrinsic behavior among aggressive behaviors of children.
According to this, the following are the problems of a research, which were established in this study.
1. Which effect does meditation activity have upon explicit behavior among aggressive behaviors of children?
2. Which effect does meditation activity have upon intrinsic behavior among aggressive behaviors of children?
Aiming to verify these problems of a research, this study passed through the procedure of a research as follows.
First, based on ‘meditation activity program’ that was prepared by Choe Min-su and Jeong Jin-sun (2005), the meditation activity program was corrected and supplemented by referring focusing on the activity that recognizes oneself and others out of ‘meditation training contents’ by Mun Gyeong-rim(1997) and ‘Buddhist mediation program’ by Kim Ji-hyeon(2003).
Second, in terms of a tool that measures aggressive behavior, it used the evaluation scale for a teacher prepared by Kim Mi-gyeong(2000), and the aggression measurement tool for children prepared by Park Hyang-suk(1989). And, by selecting 4 preschoolers with high frequency of appearance in aggressive behavior among preschoolers for experimental group, it observed and analyzed a change in the wholly aggressive behavior such as objective aggression, personal aggression, physical aggression, verbal aggression, explicit aggression, and intrinsic aggression.
Third, targeting 80 preschoolers at fully 5 years old over March~May in 2006, it carried out meditation activity for the experimental group (40 persons) across totally 20 times by 3 times a week for 8 weeks. And, it carried out the educational activity by theme based on a plan for education in the existing kindergarten, as for the comparative group (40 persons). In this process, it confirmed that two groups are the homogeneous one through a tool of measuring explicit and intrinsic behavior among aggressive behaviors prior to implementing the meditation activity.
Fourth, after carrying out the medication activity targeting the experimental group and the comparative group, the significant difference was indicated in the post-test results of explicit aggression and intrinsic aggression among aggressive behaviors. In other words, as for 40 preschoolers in the experimental group which was carried out the meditation activity, it was indicated to be reduced objective aggression, personal aggression, physical aggression, verbal aggression, explicit aggression, and intrinsic aggression more than before implementing meditation activity. Hence, the practical application of meditation activity was revealed to have a positive effect on explicit and intrinsic behavior among aggressive behaviors of children. Accordingly, it is added discussion and suggestion about the results of a study.
