기계요소의 구조와 이미지를 활용한 장신구 제작 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

공예가 가진 장점 중의 하나는 작가가 손으로 만든 것을, 관찰자도 손으로 접촉 할 수 있다는 것이라고 생각한다. 이것은 보지 않고도 형태와 질감을 느낄 수 있다는 것에서 작품과 관찰자 사이에 교감을 더해줄 수 있다.
나의 작업은 손으로 움직이거나 조립, 분해하는 장신구로써 보석을 바꿔 끼우거나 움직일 수 있다. 주로 은과 보석을 사용하여 제작한 이 장신구들은 핸들을 통해 움직이거나, 나사를 통해 조립. 분해 할 수 있다. 이를 통해 착용자가 작품에 능동적으로 참여할 수 있고, 자신의 개성을 표현함과 동시에 작업과의 교감은 더욱 넓어지게 된다. 움직임의 시각적인 결과는 보석을 통해 나타난다.
이 연구는 키네틱 아트(움직이는 미술)에서 나타나는 작품들의 요소를 바탕으로 기계요소의 간단한 원리들을 이용하여 작품을 제작한 것이다.
제작된 장신구는 손으로 움직여 나타나는 시각적 움직임을 통해 참여를 원하는 착용자에게 촉각과 시각적인 즐거움을 줌으로써 착용자와 장신구 상호간에 교감을 갖게 하는데 있다. 또한 장신구에 가변성을 부여하여 시각적인 다양화와 촉각적인 즐거움을 동시에 전달하는데 있다.
이 연구의 주요 내용은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 작품의 이론적 배경이 되는 키네틱 아트에 대하여 알아보고, 키네틱 아트 작가와 작업들에 대해 살펴본다.
둘째, 현대 공예에서 나타난 움직임 등을 알아보고, 이 움직임들이 가져오는 유희성을 관찰자와 관련하여 알아본다.
셋째, 기계미의 미학적 개념과 기계요소에 대해 알아보고, 기계의 물리적인 움직임을 작품에 도입하여 제작하였다. 공구의 움직임, 기어, 볼트, 너트, 나사 등의 요소를 이용한 작업들은 각각의 케이스에 담을 수 있게 하였다.
이와 같은 연구 과정을 통해, 장신구의 기능이 더욱 확대되며, 장신구의 새로운 조형 가능성을 시도함으로 착용자와 작품과의 교감이 더 커지길 바란다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

One of the distinguished merits of crafts is that the artists manually create their works and the observers can just touch them. This will enhance the sympathy between works and observers in terms that the hands can feel the shapes and texture without seeing.
My works are the ornaments that are moved, assembled or disassembled by hands. The gems can be changed or moved. My ornaments mainly made of silver and gems are moved by handles or assembled or disassembled using screws. The visual effects of movement are demonstrated on gems.
Accordingly, those who put on the ornaments can actively participate in the works and express their own personality and simultaneously the sympathy between them and the works is more expanded.
The works are manufactured using simple principles of mechanical elements on the basis of the elements in the kinetic arts.
The finished ornaments realize the sympathy between those who put them on and the ornaments themselves by presenting the visual pleasure and sense of touch for those who desire to participate through the visual movement made by hands. Moreover, this study aims to simultaneously deliver the visual diversity and sensual pleasure by allowing the changeability to the ornaments.
The main contents of this study are described below.
First, the kinetic art, the theoretic background of works, was studied and the kinetic artist and works were examined.
Second, the motions in the modem crafts were identified and the pleasure of game from those motions were examined in relation with the observers.
Third, the aesthetic concepts of mechanics and mechanical elements were examined and the works were produced by introducing the physical motions of mechanics to the them. The works using motions of tools, gears, bolts, nuts and screws were put in each case.
Through such efforts, this study aims to help the functions of ornaments to be more expanded and enhance the sympathy between those who put the ornaments on and them by trying the new possibility of formation of ornaments.
