"Do media interviews have personal influences on national soccer players?" This is the core of this paper. There are several world sporting events such as the Olympics, World cup and so on, where members are selected. These members are selected at a frequent basis and each time these players are bombarded with media spotlight. The media thus target their interviews on selected players and each player approaches these interviews differently and with diversity of manners. Therefore, by using my several years of experience in this field I will further investigate the diverse interviews (with these players) as well as focusing on what they think about it, how the interview effect their performance, how these interviews effect their image and finally suggest an idealistic interview method for future national soccer players. Hence, this paper has been conducted by focusing on players with subsequent portrayal of media coverage and also with their consent.
From the answers obtained by the national soccer players in a qualitative research, interviews can either have a positive or a negative influence. It was also seen that attacks on field had more burden when conducting these interviews than the defense players. The reason being that media focused mainly on the final outcome of each match or each individual performances and it’s considered that attacks have a more direct influence on the result thus more spotlight are zoomed in towards the attacks.
These interviews may have a negative influence on the individual’s personal result however on the other hand, as the players urge to receive attention by media increased their personal performance also increased. This was seen by the player’s responses that contributed in this paper. Especially for those players who were aware of propaganda strength had changes in their attitude when conducting interviews. For these players who were self conscious when talking in front of media were able to produce a far better quality interviews and became capable of expressing themselves in more diverse ways. By able to do these things the public got to see a sports player as an actual person whom they could emotionally relate to.
The public too nowadays prefer those whom they not only see on field but those whom they can imagine as a three dimensional person, whom they can picture and relate to. Therefore the players understand and are aware of the importance these interviews have and thus conduct them in a more constructively, actively and with a positive attitude. Not only do these interviews narrow the gap between the public and sports stars but it also helps establish a self image and add fine touches to their images portrayed to many of the hundreds and thousands of fans that see them portrayed in the media.
Therefore to conclude both the media and players work together to produce interviews. Whether it may contribute in a positive or negative manner may differ on each soccer player however it’s without a doubt to say that it does impact on each player individual’s personal results or image.
