The primary purpose of this study was to identify Southwest Virginia Community College (SVCC) Presidential Scholarship recipients' perceptions of their college experiences at Southwest Virginia Community College (SVCC). The researcher used a modified form of the ACT Student Opinion Survey - 2-year college form to meet the primary of the needs of the study. To determine the perceptions of the prior scholars' community college experiences, the respondents used a Likert scale and scored eight categories influencing their perceptions, which included Reasons for Choosing SVCC, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registration, Academic Curricula, Policies, & Procedures, Facilities, SVCC in General, and Educational Goals and Satisfaction. Significant differences among these categories were identified. Results of the study indicated that previous SVCC Presidential Scholars are generally satisfied with their experiences at SVCC. The institution is advised to market these results and expand this particular scholarship program. Because of the lack of literature regarding this topic, further research is recommended on highly academically ranked students in the community college system.
