수학영재의 특성에 관한 사례 연구 = (A) case study on characteristics of the mathematics gifted children

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 세계 각국에서는 고급 인적 자원의 개발이 국가 발전에 도움이 된다는 인식하에, 각 정부의 적극적인 지원을 받아 다양한 방법으로 영재교육을 활발히 추진하고 있다. 이에 우리나라에서도 1999년 12월 28일 영재교육진흥법이 제정된 이래 2005년 5월 기준으로 전국 16개 시·도교육청에서 영재학급 295개, 교육청 영재교육원 225개를 설치·운영하고 있으며 대학교 부설 영재교육원 33개에서도 수학 및 과학, 정보영재를 선발하여 학생들을 지도하고 있다.
선발된 영재들은 자신의 능력과 소질에 알맞은 교육을 받아 그들의 잠재능력을 계발할 기회를 제공받을 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 그들의 특성을 잘 파악하는 것이 가장 중요하다.
수학영재들과 관련된 다른 사례연구들의 상황은 대부분 수학영재들의 수학적 문제해결과정에 국한된 연구이다. 이에 본 연구는 수학영재들의 특성을 보다 넓은 범위에서 살펴보기 위해 사례연구 상황으로 수학영재들이 수학영재교육원에 입학하기 전 생활, 일반 학교에서의 학습생활, 방과 후 생활로 구분하였다. 즉 그들의 전반적인 생활을 통해 수학영재들의 특성을 더 자세히 살펴보았다. 이러한 연구를 통해 가정 또는 일반 학급, 영재교육원에서 수학영재들에게 어떠한 관심을 가지고 배려, 격려, 지도를 하면 좋을지 알아봄으로써 수학영재교육 활성화에 도움을 줄 것이다.
이를 위하여 다음과 같은 세 가지 연구 문제를 설정하였다.
첫째, 수학영재교육원에 입학하기 전 수학영재들은 어떤 특성이 있는가?
둘째, 일반학교 수업 시간에 수학영재들은 어떤 특성이 있는가?
셋째, 방과 후 시간에 수학영재들은 어떤 특성이 있는가?
위 연구 문제를 해결하기 위해 교육청 영재교육원에 선발되어 다니고 있는 영재교육대상자 2명을 단순성, 접근용이성, 허락가능성 등의 조건에 의해 선발하였다. 그리고, 이들의 수학영재교육원에 입학하기 전 생활, 일반 학교에서의 학습 생활, 방과 후 생활을 1년에 걸쳐, 각종 기록물을 수집하고 직접 관찰 및 면접을 통해 그들의 특성에 대해 분석하였다.
분석한 결과를 수학영재 부모들의 특성, 수학영재들의 일반적인 특성, 수학영재들의 학습행동 특성, 수학영재들의 정서적 특성으로 나누어 분석하였다. 수학영재 부모들의 학업 수준은 높은 편이며 수학영재들이 어릴 때부터 제공받은 관심과 뒷바라지가 상당하였고, 항상 대화로써 그들이 올바른 방향으로 나아가도록 지도하였다. 수학영재들의 일반적인 특성으로는 어린 나이부터 언어와 수 개념을 습득하는 능력이 뛰어나 자신의 생각을 논리적으로 표현하는 능력이 뛰어나며, 경쟁심이 높고, 독서를 좋아하며, 리더 역할을 좋아하고, 속진 학원을 다닌 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 그들의 학습행동 특성으로는 탐구를 깊게 하며 노트 정리를 열심히 하고, 다양한 분야에서 뛰어난 성취를 보여주고, 창의성이 뛰어나며, 과제집착력이 아주 높고, 스스로 공부하려는 열성을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 그들의 정서적 특성으로 친구들과의 사회성이 좋으며 자기 반성과 격려를 수시로 하고 자신감도 있었지만, 그에 못지않게 스트레스 또한 받고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
이러한 사례 연구를 통해 수학영재들을 위해서는 무엇보다 영재교육원에서 뿐만 아니라 가정교육, 일반학급에서의 교육에서도 수학영재들에게 올바른 가치관을 심어주고, 그들의 재능을 더 높은 수준으로 이끌어 줄 수 있는 기회를 제공하는데 유용하게 활용할 수 있다는 데 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently in each country in the world, gifted education is being actively driven in various methods, with the forceful support of government, under a recognition that cultivation of advanced human resources is the principle mean for the development of the nation. Since the establishment by Gifted Education Law from 28th December 1999 for further activation of the gifted education in the nation, 295 gifted classes and 225 gifted education center as of may 2005 standard are educating, and 33 university annexed gifted education center are education math, science, technology gifted children.
The gifted children who are selected will receive a proper education in ability and character of oneself and there is a necessity which will be provided the chance which will develop their latency abilities. The hazard which will reach first grasping their quality well most important is.
Related with the mathematics gifted children the situation of different case studies is the research which is limited in mathematics problem solving process of the most mathematics gifted children. The research which it sees hereupon observes from the scope which is wider the quality of the mathematics gifted children, before the hazard mathematics gifted children whom it sees enter into the mathematics gifted children education center unit life and life after studying living and dismissal of a class from the general school, namely for their general life it leads compared to attitude it observes the reporter it does a quality. For a what kind of interest in the mathematics gifted children, the research leads the family or general class, from the gifted children education center it has it considers encouragement, map and to give a help to good mathematics gifted children education activation, it does.
It will reach and to respect with afterwords it set a same three research problem.
First, before entering into the mathematics gifted children education center, are the mathematics gifted children what kind of quality?
Second, Are the mathematics gifted children what kind of quality for general school hour?
Third, Are the mathematics gifted children what kind of quality after dismissal of a class after hour?
Being selected in the hazard gifted children education center which solves an up research problem, simple characteristic and approach ease characteristic, by the condition of the permission possibility back it selected 2 person gifted children school boxes which are coming and going. And, before entering into these mathematics gifted children education center, studying life from the general school, life after dismissal of a class it will extend at 1 years, various recording it will ask and it collected direct observation and interview it led against their quality it analyzed.
It shared the result which it analyzes with emotional quality, studying conduct qualities, general qualities of the mathematics gifted children and qualities of mathematics gifted children parents. Studies level of the mathematics gifted children parents high facility when them are young from, the interest and helping out which it has were considerable, to advance with the direction where in order for always with great disaster them are proper the map it did. In general quality of the mathematics gifted children from young age the ability which finds a language and a possibility concept superiorly the ability which expresses the thought of oneself logically was superior, the competitive spirit was high, it liked it came reading, a leader role, to reveal a deepening school with the fact that it comes and goes. Also it will burn with their studying conduct quality and it will roll and it did deeply and it arranged knot eagerly, accomplishing which is superior from the field which is various it showed, the originality was superior, the subject attachment power was high quite, oneself it studies it has a devotion the possibility of knowing it was. And, the social characteristic of the friends and is good with their emotional quality and it does there is own reflection and an encouragement at any time and also a confidence, but just as good as the stress also it receives the possibility of knowing it was to him.
Like this case study it will lead the mathematics gifted children hazard what it stands the bay it will know even from family education, education from general class, only the gifted children education center in the mathematics gifted children to plant a proper sense of value it will give a talent to a higher level to lead and to provide the chance which is the possibility them it is useful and it will be able to apply there is a questionable matter.
