부부의 원가족 특성과 고부·옹서 갈등이 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Family-of-origin Characteristic and Conflicts with in-laws on Marital Satisfaction

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 부부의 원가족 특성(경계, 적응)과 배우자 가족 갈등(옹서갈등, 고부갈등)이 부부의 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해서, 부부 274쌍(남편: 274명, 부인: 274명)을 대상으로 연구하였다. Minuchin(1974)의 구조적 가족치료 이론에 따라, 부부의 원가족 경계가 명확하고 적응성이 높은 경우 부부의 결혼만족도가 높다고 가정하였다. 그러나 배우자의 원가족이 밀착, 분리된 경계를 가진 경우, 배우자의 부모가 자녀가족에 계속 관여하게 되어 고부갈등, 옹서갈등과 같은 배우자 가족 갈등을 유발하고, 이러한 배우자 가족 갈등은 부부의 결혼만족도를 낮춘다고 가정하였다.
가설 검증을 위해, 남편과 부인의 결혼만족도에 대한 단계적 회귀분석을 실시한 후, 남편모형과 부인모형을 설계하였다. 그리고 남편모형과 부인모형의 적합도 결과를 근거로, 부부의 통합모형을 설계하고, 그 경로를 검증하였다.
연구결과에 따르면, 첫째, 남편의 원가족 특성은 부부의 결혼만족도에 영향을 미쳤지만, 부인의 원가족 특성은 부부의 결혼만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이것은 남편의 원가족 경계가 명확하고 적응력이 높을수록 부부의 결혼만족도가 높았지만, 부인의 원가족 경계와 적응성은 부부의 결혼만족도에 유의미항 영향을 미치지 않았다는 것을 나타낸다. 둘째, 남편의 원가족 특성은 부인의 고부갈등을 매개로 부인의 결혼만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤고, 부인의 원가족 특성은 남편의 옹서갈등을 매개로 남편의 결혼만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 이것은 배우자의 원가족 경계가 불명확하고 변화에 대한 적응성이 낮을수록, 부부가 배우자의 가족과 갈등(옹서갈등, 고부갈등)을 더 많이 경험했고, 이러한 배우자 가족과 갈등을 많이 경험할수록 부부의 결혼만족도는 낮아졌다는 것이다.
본 연구를 통해, 부부의 원가족이 결혼생활에 미치는 영향을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 또한 부부의 결혼생활에 중요한 영향을 미치는 배우자 가족갈등으로서 며느리-시어머니간의 갈등인 고부갈등과 함께, 최근에 새로운 가족문제로 부각되고 있는 사위-장모간의 갈등인 옹서갈등을 이해하는 틀을 마련할 수 있게 되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Purpose of this study was to determine effects of family-of-origin characteristic and conflicts with in-laws on marital satisfaction. For this purpose, the Family System Diagnosis Scale(FSDS), Conflicts between Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law scale(CBMD), Conflicts Between Mother-in-law and Son-in-law scale(CBMS), and the Korean Marital Satisfaction Inventory scale(K-MSI) were administrated to 274 married couples, and data were analyzed using stepwise regression and structural equation modeling.
First, husband's family-of-origin characteristic was significant variables that explained marital satisfaction. However, wife's family-of-origin characteristic was not significant variables that explained marital satisfaction.
Second, wife's family-of-origin characteristic was significant variables that explained conflicts between mother-in-law and son-in-law. Moreover, conflicts between mother-in-law and son-in-law was significant variables that explained husband's marital satisfaction. This result showed that conflicts between mother-in-law and son-in-law had mediating effects of wife's family-of-origin characteristic on husband's marital satisfaction.
Third, husband's family-of-origin characteristic was significant variables that explained conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Moreover, conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law was significant variables that explained wife's marital satisfaction. This result showed that conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law had mediating effects of husband's family-of-origin characteristic on wife's marital satisfaction.
These results indicated that husband's family-of-origin characteristic had significant path on husband's marital satisfaction. However, this path was not significant for wife. In addition, conflicts in-laws and marital satisfaction had significant path when family-of-origin characteristic was mediated. Implications and suggestions for future research were discussed.
