      This study aims to examine the effect of Career Exploration and Decision Marking Program on the middle school students' career maturity and to find out more effective way of career education.
      The subjects of this study were 20 middle school students in the third grade of S middle School in S city. They were assigned into experimental and control groups.
      The program used in this study was randomly Group Counseling Program for Career Exploration and Decision Marking (Heo Gyoung-jae, Park Jeong-eun, Park Gyo-yong, 2003) developed by Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. CMS(Career Maturity Scale), the Career Maturity Inventory developed by KEDI(the Korea Educational Development Institute, 1992), has been used as a tool in pre-post tests.
      The program which had been conducted to the experimental group for 10 sessions totally; each session took 100 minutes and was conducted twice a week. To prove the effects of this program, t-test and ANCOVA(Analysis of Covariance) were executed with SPSS 10.1.
      Major findings of this study were as follows.
      First, the experimental group significantly in higher score of the meaningful career maturity in the whole attitude category than the controlled group. (p<.01)
      Second, the experimental group showed higher career maturity in the whole ability category, especially in the ability of understanding and deciding jobs than the controlled group (p<.001).
      Finally, the experimental group didn't show any significant difference between the post and the later tests about the attitude and the ability categories of career maturity, showing settlement of the effectiveness of the program.
      These findings reflect that group counseling program has significant effects on improving the middle students' career maturity and suggest that the career group counseling program need to be positively applied for the middle school students.
