본 연구는 수용 및 표현 언어 능력에 어려움을 겪고 있는 뇌성마비 아동들에게 신문과 여러 시각적인 효과를 나타내는 잡지, 전단지, 간행물 등을 사용한 신문활용교육을 통한 협동학습을 지도하여 뇌성마비 아동의 언어능력의 변화를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다.
본 연구의 대상은 대전광역시에 위치한 특수학교 저학년 아동 4명의 학생을 중심으로 그림어휘력과 취학전 수용 및 표현 언어 검사를 점수화하여 표와 그래프로 제시하였고, 관찰한 내용을 전체적으로 기록하여 분석하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 신문활용교육을 통한 협동학습 프로그램을 적용하여 뇌성마비 아동의 어휘력 능력에 향상을 보이며 프로그램 활동 이외의 학습과 활동시 어휘를 정확하게 사용하였다.
둘째, 신문활용교육을 통한 협동학습 프로그램을 적용하여 뇌성마비 아동의 수용 및 표현 언어 능력이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다. 그 내용을 살펴보면 지시 따르기, 질문이해, 시선집중 등 청각적 이해 능력이 향상되어 적극적으로 수용하는 모습과 협동적 과제 해결로 자신의 의사를 적극적으로 표현하는 표현 언어 능력이 생활 전반에 효과를 높일 수 있었다.
이와 같은 결과를 종합해 볼 때 신문활용교육을 통한 협동학습은 뇌성마비 아동에게 정확한 어휘 사용과 협동학습을 통한 상호간의 의사소통 및 표현 능력이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다

The present study aims to investigate how the collaborative learning through NIE (newspaper in education) would affect the language skills of the children with cerebral infantile paralysis using newspapers and various visual aids including, magazines, fliers, publications and so on.
The subjects of the present study were four students in their lower grades at one of the special schools located in Daejun Metropolitan city. The picture vocabulary level, and the receptive and expressive vocabulary development level before entering the school were evaluated and presented in tables and graphs. The observed contents after conducting the NIE were also analyzed and the results are as follows:
First, the children with cerebral infantile paralysis achieved improvements in their vocabularies after applying the collaborative learning through NIE, and could to use words more accurately in other activities other than the NIE programs.
Second, the receptive and expressive vocabulary development level of the children with cerebral infantile paralysis were also improved after applying the collaborative learning through NIE. More specifically, their aural comprehension level such as following the instruction, understanding the questions, and concentrating their eyes, were much improved, so that they could show more receptive and cooperative attitude to solve their assignments and could express their intention more actively in their whole life.
After taking everything into consideration, the author found out that the collaborative learning through NIE could improve the communication skills and expressive powers of the children with cerebral infantile paralysis.
