The author used Rohner(1991)'s PARQ scale & Cheong Won Shik(1970)'s home environment diagnosis papers as basic process and the scale Kweon Sun myoung(1993) developed to measure the mothers's parenting styles. The author used each ten problems of acceptance-refusal dimension and seven problems, nine problems of self regulation - control dimension after reconstructing and used the Choi Bo Ga & Cheon kwi Yeon(1993)'s self-esteem scale, which was developed by referring and modifying Coopersmith(1967)& McChale & Chaighead(1988)'s study to measure the child's self esteem. And to the aggression Measure, the author used No Ahn Nyeong(1993)'s scale which was changed from the BDHI developed by Buss& Durkee and Chung Dong Hwa(1995)'s scale which was changed from Buss & Perry's aggression scale after modifying and complementing.
For material analysis, the author used the SPSSWIN(Statical Package for the Social Science, Ver 12.0) and then tested by using t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient.
The results of this study are as follows:nn
First, the parenting styles which the mother intended has something to do with the mother's parenting styles which the child perceived but didn't correspond each other. That is, this the author could know that the child doesn't perceive as the mother intents.
Second, the mother's parenting styles has very meaningful correlation with the child's self-esteem. So to speak, more the acceptance-self regulation in the mother's parenting style, more higher the child's self-esteem and more refusal- control in the mother's parenting style, more lower the child's self-esteem.
Third, the mother's parenting styles has very meaningful correlation with the child's aggression. That is, more higher the acceptance-self regulation, more lower the child's aggression and more refusal-control, more the chid's aggression.
Finally, there is a meaningful correlation between the child's self-esteem and aggression. That is, more higher the child's self-esteem, more lower the child's aggression.
In the conclusion, this can make sure that the mother's parenting style affects the child's self-esteem and aggression. So as the mother has the acceptance·self-regulation attitude than refusal·control attitude, the child can have a positive self-esteem toward themselves. And as the mothers have to help to make their child form good personality so that they can have good human relationship and desirable sociability.
