실업이 가족해체에 미치는 영향과 대책에 관한 연구 = (A) Study on the Impact of Unemployment and an Alternative in Family Dissolution

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 실업이 가족해체의 변화에 있어 어떠한 관련성이 있는지를 파악하는데 있다. 1997년 경제위기 이후 실직자의 수는 극적으로 증가하였고 이는 우리에게 새로운 경험이었다. 또한 신문이나 텔레비전을 통해 가족해체의 사례가 보도되었다. 실업문제는 가족해체라는 또 다른 사회문제를 야기 시켰다. 가족폭력, 아동학대 및 유기, 가출이나 가족성원의 자살 등 가족해체에 따른 여러 형태의 문제가 속출하였다.
가족스트레스 이론에 의하면 국가의 경기침체와 가장의 실직은 기존가정생활의 유지에 부정적인 영항을 끼친다. 그리고 극심한 스트레스의 원인은 가족구성원의 기능적 자원과 가족외부의 사회적 지지와 관련이 있다고 강조한다. 가족해체와 관련하여 기술적인 연구는 최근 신문을 통해 가족해체에 있어 두 가지 타입이 있음을 밝혔다. 하나는 실업이 가족간의 스트레스가 상호작용을 일으켜 가족이 해체되었다는 것이고, 다른 하나는 실업의 결과로 인해 발생하는 경제적 어려움 때문에 가족의 결집력을 해체시킨다는 것이다.
경기침체 이후, 가족해체의 원인으로 가족구성원의 도덕성 문제만으로 해석하는 데는 한계가 있다. 이는 가족해체가 정치·경제적으로 관련이 있음을 이해해야 할 필요성이 있다. 가족해체문제는 기술적인 이론논의와 함께 사회차원에서 정책으로 논의 되어야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine, how the unemployment are related to the changes in family dissolution.
Since the economic crisis of 1997, the number of the unemployed increased dramatically, which was totally new experience for us. Also the case of family dissolution were reported by the newspapers and TV. The problem of job loss brought the issue of family breakup in front us.
Particularly the various types of family disorganization such as family violence, child abuse and abandonment, leaving home or suicide of family members. Based on the family stress theory, the economic recession of the country and the unemployment of family head are assumed as stressors which have negative consequences additively on the quality of family life. Concerned with coping the stressful conditions, functions of family resources including family members, and the social support from the outside of family are emphasize. Descriptive studies on the realities of family disorganization presented in the recent newspaper articles suggest two types of disorganization family.
One is that unemployment has caused the disorganization interacting with the prior family strains. The other is that the disorganization has been enforced by the unemployment and the resulting economic hardships even with the strong desire for family cohesion. These finding suggest that the rapidly increasing family disorganization in the context of economic crisis in Korea can't be interpreted as only a matter of morality among family members. Rather, the problems need to be understood in terms of economic institutions and politics. Given the theoretical and the descriptive studies on the realities of family disorganization, policy implications at the familial and the societal levels are discussed.
