The purpose of this dissertation is to define the structure of the 1970s' ethnical literature argument; in particular, its thesis, the formation of the argument, and the strategy of differentiation. Grasping 1970s' literature criticism, its object is to clarify various literature arguments and the relation of literature theories. Also, the object of this paper is to grasp that the 1970s' literature criticism argument opposes control ideology; it is bound up with the formation of national literature argument and its process, opposed to ideological distinction and its relation to various process of 1970s' literature theory by critically looking at study as history of national literature or history of national literature argument .
By this time, most of the 1970s' literature criticism study didn't treat this subject aggressively. Choosing 1970s' literature as a focus of study has been an obstacle in that a minute amount of time has elapsed since this time period to look at this research objectively. In this climate, continuous study was deeply grasped by the tendency to use historical meaning for 1970s' national literature argument.
However, it is difficult to understand the relation of each literature theory or macroscopic 1970s' literature argument--although the national literature argument divides 'national literature arguments' or each literature theory, occurring in history; therefore, the terms of each literature theory has a cause and effect.
Past historical studies have not created a standard in researching national literature: this dissertation will argue for a standard. The standard argues the creation of social change that induces change in human recognition, which induces the argument to be reconstructed. It is essential to utilize discussion composition body and non-discussion composition body to change the argument or to form a new argument in the national literature.
In this point, we must have a prerequisite to understand 1970s literature criticism; that is, we must have an understanding the 1960s' literature criticism argument with recognition of society at that time. The 1970s' capitalistic modernization brought not only enlargement of social wealth but also restraint and plundering to the masses. A critic represents recognition of a changing society in his writings.
In the third chapter, the argument states that the subjects of literary works become the objects of literary criticism; paralleling the tendencies of the market. Social change and recognizing its change, alters the way in which literature is written. When this change in literature occurs, it is important that literature dissociates itself with commercial novels and common novels. If we establish that commercial novels exploit those in a subordinate position, we ascertain that commercial novels are irrelevant to the discussion of literature. In addition, the new generation of critical discussion of the 1960s' form a burden on the 1970s' literature argument, criticizing serious literature through realism (dividing the debate are "Fiction Writing and Criticism" and "Literature and Intelligence")
The fourth chapter presents argument object and the burdens of the time period's national literature opposing itself in order to create a new theory and argument to have opposition to conservative national ideology. The opposition against conservative national literature led to the early stages of national literature discussions in public affairs, and resisted the creation of: "Fiction writing and Criticism" and "Literature and the Intelligence;" the sincerity to develop a literature objection to governing ideology; and hold a special location to discuss opposition ideology.
During the 1970s, "Fiction Writing and Criticism" becomes the recognized form of nationalism for the people. In addition, democratic imagination makes a serious study about realism in order to describe downtrodden reality. As a result of epistemology within this historical point, the third world establishes and utilizes this theory.
In contrast, 'the citizen' in "Literature and the Intelligence" integrates with Western philosophy, ideology, and theory. Personal imagination contradicted realism, and created realistic freedom and autonomy to interpret literature. Also, this autonomy to protect analysis of reality and its understanding through structuralism develops.
This difference of subjective theory and national literature theory evolve into arguments within popular literature theory, agrarian theory, realism, and third-world theory; which develops into a discontinuation of subject theory and national literature theory.
This conservative national literature theory opposed social self-recognition theory, and national literature theory created a discrimination strategy between the two groups to develop a literature objection.
It is this dissertation's thesis that the public grasped literature criticism during the 1970s. This paper debates a deeper and broader historical view with a broad view of the 1970s national literature argument, along with various literature theories of the time and the interaction between each and the usefulness we can expect from each. 1970s historical criticism defined by "Fiction Writing and Criticism" was a progressive national literature theory, which was opposed by "Literature and Intelligence's," which stipulated character theory, not found in national literature theory, and thus an argument between both ensued on which was correct. Between "Fiction Writing and Criticism" and "Literature and Intelligence," these two contrasting theories and arguments are achieving during the 1970s a similar point, and thus causes a discontinuation between these groups; therefore, it is important and significant to study this matter seriously.
