The goal of this research is to find out effect of group art program focused on cooperative work for the children who belong to low income class and participate in after-school program and to understand the children' emotion that is resulted from group art therapy.
In general, children create peer relationship through various lives in school after spending time at home with parents'prominent attentions. Children control their emotion, build self-esteem and learn upgraded social relationship through complication and confrontation of feeling.
The participate of the research is children belong to low-income class, living in semi-permanent rent house with economic troubles. As of result of environment children are belonged to, children grow up with less cares from their parents and spend more time with peers than with their parents. I support development of children' social skill based on positive self-esteem for children with language disorder, providing arts.
The objects for research are 10 P after- class school students who are in from 3 to 6 grades of an elementary school. I conducted a 90~100 minutes education program per every week, totaling 15 times and then examined changes of language and behaviors between peers and interactive receptive capacity.
The followings are the results of this research.
First, wild and selfish verbal expressions of the children became mild and gentle after they recognized peers and created credibility through the program.
Second, self-confidence and ability of the children to express themselves were improved through group activities.
Third, the ability to accept and others respect were along with the development of intimacy.
Positive changes of language, behaviors and peer relationship were found by building interactive positive and negative feedbacks among peer groups.
Even though difficult family environments are not changed, group art therapy provides children a lot of supports in strengthening and developing peer relationships.
I propose the next research subject based on the results shown above as follows;
Long- term research toward identical group is required to sustain in order to achieve meaningful outcome. Researchers verify the necessity of group art therapy by comparing the results produced from this research with the results produced from the new research targeted children belonged to various families socially, economically, culturally.
