The purpose of this study was to examine creative thinking ability and creative personality of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This study also compared creative thinking ability and creative personality in the children with ADHD with those with normal children.
The participants were thirty three children with ADHD and eighty seven children without ADHD in a elementary school setting. creative thinking ability was assessed by using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking, Figural Form A and creative personality was measured by tool developed by Park and Yoo to assess creative motivation and attitude. The data were analyzed using t-test and Pearson's correlation.
The results of the study are as follows:
First, there was a significant difference between children with ADHD and children without ADHD in the fluency, originality, elaboration. children with ADHD show higher fluency, originality and lower elaboration than children without ADHD.
Second, there was no significant difference between children with ADHD and children without ADHD in creative personality. Results showed that children are more similar than dissimilar in creative personality.
Third, there was no significant correlation between creative thinking ability and creative personality. But there was significant correlation between each factors of creative thinking ability and creative personality.
