네티켓의식 실태와 교육방안 : 중학교 1학년을 중심으로 = (A) study on juveniles' consciousness of netiquette and their education for netiquette : focused on middle school 1st graders

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 사이버 공간이 청소년들의 행동 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 중학생들의 네티켓의식 실태를 파악한 후, 체계적인 네티켓 교육 프로그램을 실시함으로써 학생들의 네티켓의식 수준을 높이는 한편, 가정·학교에서의 바람직한 네티켓 교육방안을 모색하여 교육적인 시사점을 도출하고자 하는 것이 목적이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구는 사이버 공간과 청소년들의 행동특성, 네티켓 교육에 대한 개념을 정리하고 이와 관련된 문헌을 고찰하였으며, 중학생의 네티켓의식 실태 및 네티켓 교육 프로그램 적용 후의 교육 효과, 그리고 네티켓 교육에 관한 요구를 설문 조사하였다.설문조사는 서울 관악구에 위치한 B중학교 1학년 학생 213명을 대상으로 하였으며, 수집된 자료는 문항별로 빈도를 계산하여 백분율을 산출하였다.본 연구의 조사결과를 영역별로 구분하여 살펴보면 다음과 같다.첫째, 네티켓의식 실태에 관한 조사 결과, 대부분의 학생들이 스스로 인식하는 자신의 네티켓의식 수준은 보통 수준 이상이었으나, 그렇지 못한 학생들도 상당수 있었는데, 학생들의 네티켓의식 수준을 높이기 위해 지속적이고 체계적인 네티켓 교육이 요구된다.둘째, 네티켓 교육 실시 후, 1차 설문 결과와 비교한 네티켓 교육 효과에 있어서는 거의 모든 문항에 있어 학생들의 네티켓 의식이 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있었는데, 이는 네티켓 교육 후 인터넷 사용 태도에 긍정적인 변화가 있었다고 대답한 학생들이 66%가 넘는다는 사실을 통해서도 알 수 있다.셋째, 네티켓 교육에 대한 요구 조사에서는 대부분의 학생들이 학교에서 네티켓 교육이 이루어져야 한다고 응답하였고, 교육 시기는 빠를수록 좋다고 하였으며, 학급활동 시간에 네티켓 교육이 이루어지길 희망하였다. 또한 네티켓 교육에서 강조되어야 할 부분으로는 사이버 언어폭력, 바이러스와 해킹, 개인정보 보호, 불건전 유해 정보의 순으로 나타나, 이 부분들에 대한 체계적인 네티켓 교육이 필요함을 알 수 있다.이러한 조사 결과를 토대로 네티켓 의식 함양을 위한 교육 방안을 정리해 보면, 가정에서는 컴퓨터를 공개된 장소에 설치하고, 컴퓨터 사용 일지를 기록하게 함으로써 컴퓨터 사용 시간을 체크하는 등 각별한 관심을 기울여야 한다. 또한 오프라인 상에서 자녀들에게 예절에 대해 지도하듯이 네티켓을 자녀들에게 교육하고, 자녀들과 컴퓨터를 같이 하고 배움으로써 공감대를 형성하기 위해 노력을 기울여야 한다.학교에서는 네티켓에 대한 조기교육이 이루어져야 하고, 다양한 교수-학습 방법 및 자료개발에 대한 연구와 공유화가 이루어져야 하며, 학생들의 지적·도덕적 발달 특성을 고려하여 네티켓 지도 내용을 선정하여야 한다. 그리고, 학부모에 대한 네티켓 교육과 함께 학생들에 대한 체계적인 네티켓 교육이 실시되어야 하며, 교육의 주체로서 교사의 열정과 관심도 네티켓 교육에 있어 매우 중요하다. 또한 네티켓 교육은 생활교육이며 실천교육이 되어야 하고, 도덕 교육의 학문적 배경과 원리 위에서 추구되어야 하며, 기능적 측면’보다 ‘윤리적 측면’으로 교육이 이루어져야 한다. 마지막으로, 네티켓 교육에 대한 교육 정책적 지원이 뒷받침되어야 한다.인터넷은 이미 현실이고 생활의 일부가 되었다. 정보 사회도 결국 우리가 만든 세계이고, 앞으로도 계속 우리가 살아갈 세계이다. 따라서 사이버 공간에서의 예절인 네티켓이 무엇보다도 필요하며, 인터넷 세대인 청소년들의 밝고 건전한 인터넷 활용을 위해 가정·학교 교육을 포함하여 우리 사회 구성원 모두가 네티켓 교육에 관심을 가지고 힘써야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the cyber space on juveniles'' behavioral characteristics and their consciousness of netiquette and thereupon, explore the ways to educate them for a higher level of netiquette at home and school, and thereby, suggest some insights into the cyber etiquette or netiquette education. For this purpose, relevant literature was reviewed for the concepts related to cyber space, juveniles'' behavioral characteristics and netiquette education, and thereupon, a questionnaire survey was conducted for middle school students'' consciousness of netiquette, effects of a netiquette education program and their needs for netiquette education.For the questionnaire survey, 213 students enrolled in the 1st grade of a middle school at Kwanak-gu, Seoul were sampled and the data collected were statistically processed for frequency per item and percentages.The results of this study can be summarized as follows;First, as a result of surveying students'' consciousness of netiquette, it was found that most of the students perceived that they were conscious of netiquette, while some of them seemed to be less conscious of netiquette. Such a finding suggests that students should continue to be educated systematically to be more conscious of netiquette.Second, after the netiquette education program, students were more conscious of netiquette than before the program. Namely, more than two thirds of the students answered that they were more conscious of netiquette when they were using the Internet.Third, most of the students perceived that they should be adequately educated on netiquette at school, and hopefully earlier and during regular curriculum hours. The area of netiquette education perceived most important by students was cyber verbal violence, followed by virus and hacking, protection of privacy and unhealthy harmful information in their order, all of which need to be focused on in netiquette education.Based on the above findings, the following measures need to be taken for students'' consciousness of netiquette.First, computers should be installed open at home, while a computer diary should be kept to have students'' computer uses checked.Next, just as children are educated on off-line etiquette, they should also be educated on netiquette. In addition, parents are obliged to use computers together with children, trying to form a consensus for netiquette.Third, students should be educated on netiquette earlier at school, while researches into diverse pedagogics and data should be shared among teachers. And in consideration of students'' intellectual and moral development, contents of netiquette education should be determined. And both parents and children should be educated systematically on netiquette, and teachers as educational actors should be more concerned about netiquette education. Moreover, as netiquette education is a kind of life and practical education, it should be operated based on academic theories and principles, and therefore, it should be ''ethical'' rather than ''functional''.Lastly, netiquette education should be supported by educational policies.Internet has already been a part of our reality and life. The information society is a world created by us as well as a world where we will continue to live. Accordingly, the netiquette as cyber space etiquette is essential. So, every member of our society including home and school is obliged to be concerned about netiquette education to encourage our juveniles to use the Internet in a more positive and desirable way.
