학원수업이 학교수업과 성적에 미치는 영향 = (The) effects of private institute education on class and score in school

국문 초록 (Abstract)

대한민국의 부모들만큼 자식들의 교육에 대해 열정을 보이는 부모들도 아마 없을 것이다. ‘No learn, No food.’ 즉 ‘배우지 못하면 굶는다.’ 라는 신조어가 나올 만큼 그들은 교육에 대해 특별한 애착을 가지고 있으며 때때로 그들의 삶을 즐길 수 있는 기회조차 자식의 교육을 위해 희생하는 것을 당연하게 받아들이곤 한다. 그런 교육에 대한 열정이 지난 30～40년 간 우리나라의 괄목할만한 경제 성장의 굳은 초석이 되었던 것은 사실이나 이로 인해 많은 문제점도 발생되었다.대한민국의 교육현실은 독립된 교육현실만의 문제가 아니다. 교육현실은 사회구조 안에 포함되어 있고 그 사회구조에 의해 교육현실이 이렇게 형성된 것이다. 따라서 대한민국의 부모들이 교육에 열중하는 이유도 대한민국의 사회현실과 무관치 않다.그렇다면 부모들은 왜 이렇게 지나치다 싶을 정도로 자녀들의 공부에 집착하는 것일까? 그것은 바로 대학을 졸업해야 만이 보다 더 나은 대우를 받을 수 있는 우리나라의 사회구조 때문이다. 따라서 지나친 경쟁이 유발되고 이 경쟁에서 이기기 위해 학생과 학부모들은 공교육과는 별도로 사교육에 의존 하게 되는 것이다.시대가 변했지만 우리나라에서는 아직도 교육이 신분상승의 도구로 사용되고 있고 많은 사람들이 대학교육을 사회에 진출하는데 있어 필수적인 자격증과 같은 것으로 생각하고 있다. 우리가 교육의 문제를 논하면서도 이 문제를 쉽게 해결하지 못하는 이유는 교육이 교육자체로 독립되어 있는 것이 아니라 복잡한 사회현실과 연관되어 있기 때문이다.오늘날 많은 학생들이 원활한 학교수업과 성적향상을 위해 학원을 다니고 있다. 그리고 이제 학원을 다니는 것이 학교를 다니는 것만큼이나 보편화된 시점에서 정말로 학생들과 학부모들이 생각하는 것처럼 학원수업이 학교수업과 성적에 긍정적인 영향을 주는지에 대해 알아 볼 필요성을 느끼게 되어 연구를 하게 되었다. 많은 학생들이 학교수업의 원활한 이해와 성적향상을 위해 학원이나 과외 등 많은 사교육에 의존 하고 있다. 그러나 정작 학원이나 과외를 받은 학생들이 그렇지 않은 학생들보다 성적이 좋지 않은 경우도 있고 성적이 하락하는 경우도 있어 실제로 학원수업이 학교수업과 성적에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 알아보고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to find out how many effects private institute education have on class mood and students'' scores in school. The questionnaire survey of the second students was conducted in Kwang-Sung high school on September 28, 2005. Students'' English scores of the mid-term and final term examinations in the second semester, 2005 were compared to whether they enrolled or not in private institute during the mid and final term examinations, and the differences on scores among them were analyzed in various aspects.As a result, in the aspect of school class mood, this research reveals that the half of the students taking lessons in private institute can not concentrate on English class in school because of many reasons such as the health condition of weariness and the reduction of interest, etc, though one generally thinks that the students who enroll in private institute will concentrate on English class in school more than those who don''t enroll in.In the aspect of school score, all students taking lessons in private institute show better scores on English examination than those who don''t take lessons in private institute, even though what percentage is better can not be known this experiment because the period between mid and final term is not long enough to show this.It is little bit difficult to generalize this conclusion to all subjects on the ground that this research was limited to English subject. Further detailed research on this theme, it is worth studying the effects of private institute on various subjects as well as on the levels of students - advanced level, intermediate level and beginner level.
