More families in modern society becoming nuclear families, is more being emphasized the importance of parent` s role.. In large family there are many family members, so the influence of family problems to children could be reduced. But in nuclear family children are directly affected by the family problems. Parents take a very important role especially in the family with a handicapped child. It is a crucial factor to parents to decide what their child will be and how he or she will live in the future. Until now, there have been large numbers of studies focused on a mother's role and problems as a main caressive but less on a father`s role and problems. The importance of a father's role was under-emphasized in the conclusion of the studies about a handicapped child's mother. In fact a father's responsibility must be emphasized in educating handicapped child's father. On this study, I am trying to catch both father's stress and coping behavior level and further to grasp correlation. This study lets us know that it is necessary for a program basically enchaining coping behavior response of handicapped children's fathers to be developed. The survey was carried out by a whole number method. Its objects were covered by the whole number of fathers who have a child going to special school, early education schools for the retard, welfare institutions, I have used Questioner on Resource and stress developed by Friedrucg(51 questions) and Coping Health Inventory for Parents developed by McCubbin & Patterson(45 questions) which were individually factor -analyzed.
The results analyzed by this survey could be summarized as follows:
1. In the view of children's characteristic, the extent of a farther's stress is differentiated by age, degree of disorder, number of disorder of handicapped children. Meanwhile the birth ranking, disorder type and sex don't differentiate the extent of a father's stress.
2. In the view of father's characteristics, the extent of a father's stress is differentiated by his age, educational background, occupation and family types.
3. In the view of children's characteristics, the difference in the level of a father's behavioral response shows meaningful relationship with a children's age and duplication-number of disorder.
4. In the view of farther's characteristics the difference in the level of a father's behavioral response shows meaningful relationship with a father's belief.
