There have been accomplished numerous researches for thrift or saving, but no researches for consumer's recognition of scarcity in view of consumers.
Accordingly, this research is to provide the basic data to the program educating consumers by understanding consumer behavior, expenditure of consumption, and the lifestyle of consumer relative to scarcity.The process for researching consumers' recognition of scarcity comprises of water, energy, food and clothing, housing and comparing the differences for consciousness of consumption, expenditure of consumption, saving behavior, and the lifestyle of consumer.The results verifying the hypothesis set in this research are as follows:
First, it is represented that the recognition of scarcity as the group regarding serious consciousness of consumption.
Second, it is represented that the recognition of scarcity as the group regarding serious behavior of rational expenditure.
Third, it is represented that the recognition of scarcity as the group regarding serious sincere lifestyle, where as, convenient lifestyle has the low level of scarcity.
From the above results, the followings are suggested.
First, we have to develop various consumer education program about scarcity of resources in order to guide the life of consumption rationally.
Second, the government has to provide efficient information about the rational behavior of consumer.
Third, consumers have to be aware of the exhausted resources and the responsibility for saving the resources.
