To collected data was analyzed by SAS statistical program. The frequency and percentage were calculated to investigate the general characteristics of the subject. To investigate reliability and validity of scale, Cronbachs α was calculated. And for the each research problem, t verification, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA were used.
The results of this study are as follow:
First, There was a meaningful difference in the social adaptation and behavior problems of young children according to their sex. The boys had higher social adaptation and lower behavior problems than the girls
Second, There was difference in young childrens social adaptation according to the level of family cohesion and flexibility. Young children from the family with low cohesion and flexibility tend not to be social adaptation, prosocial behavior, positive affect within the school setting, peer competence, ego strength, and adjustment to preschool routines.
Third, There was difference in young childrens behavior problems according to the level of family cohesion and flexibility. It shows young children from the family with low cohesion and flexibility are more troublesome in general behavior problems, hostile-aggressive and hyperactive-distractible.
Forth, there is no supportive result that there is interaction between young childrens sex and family function about social adaptation and behavior problems. However the each sex of young children and family function influence independently over young childrens ability of social adaptation and behavior.
