뉴에코패션(New-Eco Fashion) 디자인 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

생태학은 세계를 하나의 생명체로 인식하는 전체적이고 통합적이며 유기적인 자연관을 모색하고 있으며, 이를 근저로 하고 있는 생태학적 세계관은 자연과 인간을 분리하지 않고 하나의 통합된 관계망으로 인식하고 있다. 특히 패션 디자인에서는 80년대 이후 생태학의 개념을 응용한 에코 패션이 등장하여 오늘날까지 다양한 방식으로 활발하게 유행 전개되고 있다.
에코 패션은 처음에는 친환경적인 경향으로 자연친화적인 소재를 사용하거나 기존의 물건을 재활용하고 재구성하는 방향으로 표현되었으나, 90년대 중반 이후에는 고도의 기술 정보화 시대인 현대사회의 속성을 광범위하게 반영하고 있다. 이러한 흐름은 다양성, 가변성, 개성화를 바탕으로 한 테크놀로지와 자연의 통합추구에서 비롯되어진다.
본 연구는 패션 디자인에 응용될 수 있는 생태학의 근본 특성을 순환성, 가변성, 관계성으로 집약 고찰하였고, 이를 토대로 패션 디자인에서의 활용 가능성을 모색하였다. 그리고 원과 선을 모티브로 한 에코 텍스쳐를 통해 생태학의 세가지 특성을 적용한 뉴에코 패션 디자인 작품 8점을 제작하였다.

본 연구의 요약 및 결론은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 순환성은 차용과 재활용, 변화를 즐기는 과정사고를 통해 표현되었다. 친환경적 요소를 반영한 차용은 재활용 측면에서 남겨진 원을 모티브로 재구성하고 상호 연결시켜 재생성한 생태적 텍스쳐로 표현되었다. 그리고 현대문명의 인위적이고 기계적인 느낌을 탈피하여 자연의 정서를 나타내기 위해 수작업을 이용한 표현이 시도되었다. 에크루(Ecru)와 오프 화이트(Off white), 스킨 베이지(Skin beige)의 색상 사용과 무착색 무염색의 천연실크 소재의 사용으로 정제되지 않은 자연스러움을 표출하였다. 또한 여기에는 축융되어 가는 표면구조의 시간성과, 다기능 멀티 코디네이션 방식의 착장 과정에 수반되는 다양한 변화와 변형을 즐기는 과정사고가 반영되었다.
둘째, 자연의 순환원리인 가변성은 끊임없이 변화하며 고정됨이 없는 소산구조로, 다양한 멀티 코디네이션 착장 방식과 다용도로 변화 가능한 연출방식에서 표현된다. 이것은 자신만이 착용하는 독창적인 스타일로서 차별화 시대의 요구에 부합되도록 표현하였다. 또한 자원감축에 따른 절제된 소비태도를 반영하고 있다.
셋째, 상호 관련되어 작용하는 생태계의 다층구조와 복잡성을 반영하는 관계성은 신체와 복식과의 원활한 소통을 꾀하고 있으며, 이는 이질적인 결합소재를 통해 나타난다. 결합소재는 첨단 기술로 가공된 광폭의 산업용 메리노울 니들펀치 펠트 소재와, 무착색의 천연실크를 수작업으로 축융 결합시킨 것이다. 자연과 기술, 인간의 감성을 조화시킨 유기적인 형태와 이를 응용한 표면 텍스쳐 표현방식의 중층구조를 통해 표출하였다. 또한 획일적이고 규격화된 패션 소재와 디자인에서 탈피하여 희소가치가 있는 유일한 독창성을 표현한 것으로, 착용성을 전제로 한 자연미를 창출하였다.
이와 같이 뉴에코 패션 디자인은 상호 연결되고 상호 작용하는 생태계의 순환적·가변적 관계를 다층적 의미로 표현하였다.

본 연구는 21세기 사회, 문화, 예술 전반에 영향을 미치고 있는 생태학의 특성을 분류 고찰하였고, 이를 통해 환경에 대한 적극적인 관심으로 표명된 생태적 주제를 포괄 발전시켜 뉴에코 패션 디자인 개발과 표현 가능성을 확대하고 그 기법을 다양화 하였다는데 연구의 의의를 둔다.
후속 연구로는 에코 패션의 개념이 확장되어 봉제선, 다트, 다림질이 필요 없는 무봉제 패션인 그린패션에 대한 연구와, 본 연구에서 미비하였던 섬유의 수축률에 대한 객관적인 데이터 작업이 수행된 뉴에코 패션에 대한 연구를 제안한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Ecological view of the world, which is based on the holistic view of nature that takes the world for a living thing, recognizes nature and man as an integrated network of relationships rather than divide them. Applying such concept of ecology to fashion design, eco-fashion appeared in the latter 1980s to develop it into diverse patterns.
Eco-fashion, which had at first the eco-friendly tendency to use nature friendly materials, recycle or reconstruct the existing matters, has reflected features of contemporary society based on high technology and IT since the mid 1990s, which has been originated from the pursuit after the integration of technology and nature on the basis of diversity, variableness and individuality.
This study defined the basic features of ecology applicable to fashion design as cycling, variableness and relationship, and sought the applicability of the features in fashion design. Applying the three features of ecology to new eco-fashion design, the author made eight pieces of works using eco-texture with the motif of circles and lines.
This study is summed up as follows
First, cycling was expressed through process thinking that enjoys borrowing, recyling and changes. Borrowing that reflected eco-friendly factors was expressed as eco-texture, which was regenerated by reconstructing and interconnecting the motif of circles that had been left over in the aspect of recycling. To express the natural emotion slough from the artistic and mechanical feeling of modern civilization, an expression using man-made works was attempted. Unrefined naturalness was expressed by using colors such as ecru, off-white and skin beige, and natural silk that had not been colored and dyed. The works also reflected the timing sensation of the felting surface structure and the process thinking that enjoys diverse changes and transformation arising from the dressing process of multi functional and multi-layered coordinates.
Second, variableness, the cycling principle of nature, was expressed as a dissipative structure that incessantly changes resisting fixation, and in dressing method of various multi coordination and the arrangement that can be changed into versatility, which is original style only for oneself in line with the age of differentiation. It is also the reflection of the spirit of economy in compliance with the decrease of resources.
Third, relationship, which reflects the multi-layered structure and complexity of the interconnected and interactive ecosystem, seeks smooth communication between the body and clothing which was expressed through the combination of high-tech materials of different quality. The used materials of industrial merino wool needle punched felt fabric of double width and uncolored natural silk were manually felted and combined. The relationship was expressed through the organic shape that harmonizes nature with technology and human emotion, and the multi-layered structure of the surface texture expression method applying the organic shape. The relationship, which expressed the originality with scarcity value deviated from standardized fashion materials and designs, also displayed natural beauty based on wearability.
As shown above, new eco-fashion designs express the cycling and variable interrelationship of the interlinked and interactive ecosystem in multi-leveled structures.

This study has the significance that it considered the features of ecology influencing on society, culture and arts, expanded the possibility of new eco-fashion design development and expression, and diversified the methods by comprehending and developing ecological themes.
Subsequent to this study, researches on green fashion that does not require sewing line, dart and ironing based on the expanded concept of eco-fashion, and new eco-fashion with the objective data on shrinking of fabrics, of which this study is deficient, are suggested.
