A purpose of this study is to evaluate any risk-ratio through an accurate measurement of a radiation exposure dose by the help of experiments for the radiological workers who were on duty at the angiography room which is exposed by radiation for many hours and it is to provide the researchers with a material necessary to control an effective exposure management to clarify the radiological worker's character of perceptions and behaviors about a radiational protection through a vigorous examination.
Since the researcher surveyed their knowledge, perception and behavior about radiation after dividing 169 radiological workers who work at the angiography rooms of 13 university hospitals in Seoul and Gyeongi-do area into 8 occupational groups. And the main results of an accurate measurement of the radiational exposure dose which proved by experiment are as in the following,
First, According to the findings of the radiational knowledge it was high in the order of radiologist, radiology consulting and cardiology consulting, and also the radiational knowledge has had an interrelationship with a standard of education and the distinction of sex.
Second, The educated persons of radiation safety management were nothing but 36% workers of them, and they were a significant difference by occupational groups, and then most educated persons have responded that such a education enable them to be of much help to control safety supervision.
Third, As a result of the investigation it showed that only 40% of all respondents had a regular medical checkup. Accordingly, it shows that a health management for radiological workers has many problems awaiting solution in view of these facts of respondence that it enables only 21% of them to be of help to relate to a radiational exposure.
Fourth, In this study it shows that 91.1% of the subjects of study was anxious for occurrence of an occupational disease to be caused by radiation and a part of the body to be most anxious about were a reproduction organ and eyes. it showed that their stress to be caused by radiation was a significant difference in accordance with distinction of sex, state of marriage, period of working, and kind of occupation.
Fifth, In this study it showed that the management for the radiological safety has many problems awaiting solution in view of these facts that the rate of wearing of an individual radiation exposure dosimeter on their proper position was only 40% of them and the rate of wearing of individual lead gloves and lead glasses was high, however they did not put on their lead gloves and lead glasses.
Sixth, Under fluoroscophy for a minute it showed that the operators were measured the exposure dose as 0.165 mR on abdomen and as 0.084 mR on thyroid respectively when wearing of the radiational protectors, but the operators were measured the exposure dose as 4.85 mR on abdomen and as 2.67 mR on thyroid when non-wearing of them respectively.
And also, under fluoroscophy for a minute it showed that the operating assistors were measured 0.063 mR on abdomen and 0.038 mR on thyroid respectively when wearing of the radiational protectors respectively but they were measured 0.816 mR on abdomen and 0.73 mR on thyroid respectively when non-wearing of them respectively.
Seventh, The accumulative dose for 3 months through an individual radiation exposure dosimeter was 46.76 mSv in front of apron on the operator's abdomen respectively when non-wearing of them, and it was 4.43 mSv inner apron respectively when wearing of them respectively. And also, the accumulative dose of the operation assistors were 23.74 mSv outer apron when non-wearing of them and it was 1.93 mSv inner apron when wearing of them.
And, it showed that the reduced effect to be caused by wearing of the radiational protectors on the radiologist's abdomen was lesser than an experiment value as the accumulative dose of radiologist was 21.89 mSv in front of apron when the radiologist did not wear the radiational protectors on their abdomen and it was 1.68 mSv inner apron when they were wearing of the radiational protectors.
In conclusion, as a result of study, it showed that the radiological workers who worked in an angiography room was significantly measured as higher level than the radiological workers who served in a different field and it is close to the index of numerical value advised by ICRP.
And, it showed that the workers who served in a different field except the radiologists were very low in knowledge and education level as well as the rate of medical examination. And this thesis has found that the management for the radiological safety has many problems awaiting solution for it was impossible to measure the individual exposure dose since they appeared to be very low in rate of wearing of individual radiation exposure dosimeter.
Accordingly, the persons concerned have to develop the education program for the workers which are serving in the fields and the workers have to make safe against radiation to reduce their radiational exposure by completing several problems.
