This study was designed to find out that students' attentiveness has an effect on grade by analysing the relationship between grades and attentional ability.
The purpose of this study is (1) to find out the difference of a students' attentiveness depending on sex, (2) to find out the difference of students' attentiveness depending on their grades, and (3) to find out the difference of students' attentiveness depending on the career of the students' parents.
In this study, a total of 697 girl and boy students in the eastern part of Jeonnam high schools were purposely sampled and asked to answer questionnaires. They were classified into three part(high, middle, low) by imitation college entrance exam.
Dependent variables, which included attentiveness, were measured by TAIS(Test of Attentional Interpersonal Style) Robert M. Nideffer developed. TAIS consists of 3 positive items and 3 negative items.
They were analyzed by SAS program. As a result, means and standard deviations were calculated to do the t-test and one-way ANOVA and three-way ANOVA.
The results can be summarized as follows :
First, in the factor of grades there was a difference between girls and boys.
Second, in the factor of grade level there was a difference.
Third, there was no difference in the factor of their parents' career.
