The Automobile Industry is an end product, which is manufactured by more than 20,000 component parts and measure international competitiveness and technology of a country. It is basic industry leading national economy.
Korean Automobile Industry started from simple assembling plant, it has been developed as fifth largest automobile manufacturing country. It has posted rapid growth through steady research and development, government supporting, untiring expanding domestic demand and export increases.
However after IMF crisis, in the face of business depression because of the tide of industrial restructuring, overall changes of Korean Automobile Industry Distribution System was inevitable according to business M&A and increases of disposal sales to foreign firms.
The purpose of the present paper is to study the effects of customer characteristic and Distribution System on corporate performance in Automobile Industry. This automobile Distribution System and corporate performance study is based on the analysis of difference between automobile customer's need and corporate performance.
The model used here is mainly based on data obtained from research results anda statistical analysis using SPSS. The statistical methods used here are T-test and to analyze basic statics, variance, correlation.
For the empirical analysis, Automobile customer characteristics classified into six parts; characteristics of reformation, self-realization and information-oriented, economic strength, frequency of experiences and satisfactions of internal customer and Distribution System. Distributed system divided into two like; Direct Control System and Dealer System.
The model analyzes empirically Corporate Performance, which is divided into financial outcome and non-financial outcome. The financial outcome consists of profitability, activity, mobility, stability and growth rates. The non-financial outcome, namely Customer Satisfaction Index is composed of confidence index, customer loyalty, oral publicity and wills of repeat purchasing.
The empirical analysis is as follows.
First, we can find some differences between financial rates and Customer Characteristics Variances, which are self-realization, financial power, and internal customer satisfaction index through analyzing the divergence between Customer Characteristics Variances and financial outcome.
Second, as a result of analyzing differences between Customer Characteristics Variances and non-financial outcome, renovation is based on the divergence between wills of repeat purchasing and oral publicity, and information oriented character is founded on the difference between customer loyalty and oral publicity. Economic strength is grounded on the difference among Customer Characteristics Variances without oral publicity, and frequency of experiences is based on the divergence of customer loyalty.
Third, according to analyze the difference between Distribution System and financial outcome, we can find the fact that only business profit increase rates is different.
Fourth, the result of the difference between Distribution System and non-financial outcome shows similar differences with among confidence index, customer loyalty, oral publicity and wills of repeat purchasing.
Fifth, according to analyze the difference between Customer Characteristics Variances and Distribution System, we can find the fact that only self-realization is different.
This study has some limitation as follows.
First, a full theoretical background was not thrashed out because of insufficiency of the automobile customer satisfaction index and the related prior study. Second, customer has got a little understanding of automobile distribution system. Third, prior study for the financial outcome of automobile firms was not enough and we could not make full use of financial rates because of each firm's business changes after IMF crisis.
I think a continuos study with making up for the limitation in the present will be better than now and hope this paper would be contributed greatly to the automobile industry.
