노인교육을 통한 노인의 생활만족도에 관한 연구 = (The) Research regarding the life satisfactory degree of the old person who leads a old person education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대사회의 변화속도가 가속화되고 노인들의 평균수명이 연장됨에 따라 노인들이 이러한 변화에 능동적으로 대처하고 인간적인 삶을 유지하기 위해 노인교육이 절실히 필요하리라 생각되어서 노인교육을 통한 노인의 생활 만족도에 관한 연구를 하게 되었다.
본 연구는 보은지역과 옥천지역에 거주하는 만 60세 이상의 노인들을 대상으로 10월6일부터 10월23일까지 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 일대일 면담을 통해 자료수집이 이루어졌다. 연구방법은 노인교육 및 프로그램의 활성화 방안과 노인의 생활만족도에 관련된 문헌연구와 노인의 생활만족도를 분석하기위하여 중요한 인구사회학적 요인 11개, 사회참여요인 2개를 설정하고 각 변인들과 생활만족도간에 관계에 대한 가설적 인과모형을 설정하였다. 인과모형을 경험적으로 검증하기 위하여 수집된 자료 153부가 분석에 이용되었으며, 사용된 자료는 SPSS WIN(Ver. 10.0)을 이용하여 통계처리 하였으며 다음과 같은 분석 방법을 사용하였다.
독립변인과 생활만족도간의 관계는 배우자 관계, 건강상태, 교육정도, 용돈, 종교, 사회단체가 1% 수준에서, 성별, 연령, 사회교육 참여정도는 5%의 수준에서 유의적인 상관관계를 보이고 있다.
생활수준이 r=.483으로 생활만족도에 가장 관련이 있음을 알 수 있다.
본 연구에서의 종속변인은 생활만족도(Life Satisfaction)이며 척도는 최성재(1986)교수가 개발한 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다.
본 연구의 목적을 수행하기 위하여 다음과 같이 연구 문제를 설정하였다.
첫째. 노인의 성별, 연령, 배우자유무, 건강상태, 동거가족형태, 직업, 교육수준, 소득수준, 노인지각연령 등 개인적 배경변인에 따라서 노인의 생활 만족도에 영향을 미칠 것인가?
노인의 생활 만족도와 인구사회학적 요인인 성별, 연령, 배우자유무, 건강상태, 동거가족형태, 교육수준, 노인지각연령, 당면문제, 용돈, 생활수준, 종교 활동이 유의미한 상관관계를 갖고 있었다.
둘째. 노인의 사회참여, 즉 사회교육참여, 사회단체참여 등 이런 개인적 배경변인에 따라서 생활만족도에 차이가 있는가?
사회단체 참여유무에 따라 생활만족도에 유의미한 차이(p<0.001)가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 사회단체활동에 참여하고 있는 노인의 평균점수는 2.17로 사회단체활동에 참여하고 있지 않은 노인의 평균점수 1.87보다 생활만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타난 변인은 사회단체활동이 영향을 미치고 있으며 위 변인을 설명하는 정도는 16.5%이다. 즉, 사회단체활동을 하고 있을수록 생활만족도가 높아지는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째. 노인교육을 받은 노인과 노인교육을 받지 않은, 노인의 교육 참여 정도와 생활만족도간에는 어떠한 관계가 있는가?
노인교육을 받고 있는 노인과 그렇지 않은 노인을 통제하여 회귀분석을 수행한 결과 두 집단 간의 차이는 거의 나타나지 않았다.
결과적으로 노인교육을 받고 있는 노인과 그렇지 않은 노인 간의 큰 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났지만 노인교육을 받고 있는 노인의 경우, 생활수준이 높을수록, 건강상태가 좋을수록 생활만족도가 높게 나타났고, 노인교육을 받고 있지 않은 노인의 경우, 용돈이 많을수록, 건강상태가 좋을수록 생활만족도가 높게 나타났다.
회귀분석결과 노인의 생활만족도에 유의미한 인과적 영향을 행사하는 변인은 건강상태 및 생활수준이 영향을 미치고 있으며 위 변인을 설명하는 변인은 46.4%이다. 즉, 건강상태가 좋을수록, 생활수준이 높을수록 생활만족도가 높아지는 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구를 통하여 얻어진 결론에 있어서는 보은, 옥천지역 노인의 생활만족 실태를 알아보며 인구사회학적요인과 사회참여요인 등에 따라 노인의 생활만족도에 어떠한 영향을 주는가를 밝혀내고 노인교육의 질을 향상시켜 노인의 생활 만족도를 높이며 나아가 노인복지를 향상시키고자 하는데 목적을 두었는데 노인교육을 받고 있는 노인과 그렇지 않은 노인 간의 큰 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다.
김연(2001)의 연구 결과에서도 보듯 노인대학참여 노인과 비참여 노인 간의 생활만족도는 통계적으로 차이가 발생하는 것을 볼 수 있는데 본 연구 결과는 너무 의외의 결과가 나온 것 같아 한편으론 놀라움을 금치 못했다. 결과만 놓고 보더라도 이 지역 노인교육의 수준 내지 노인교육의 현실을 그대로 보여 준다고 하겠다.
연구자가 읽은 논문 가운데 대부분 서울, 대전 등 시단위 이상의 도시 노인대학의 연구 결과물들은 많은 반면 군이나 리 단위의 노인대학에 대한 연구 결과물들은 빈약했다. 시 단위 이상의 노인대학에 비해 너무 열악한 농촌지역의 노인교육이 활성화되고 본 논문을 통해 제 자신부터가 이 지역에 적합한 프로그램을 만들어서 현실적으로 노인들이 안고 고민하는 문제를 해결하고 도움이 되는 방향으로 노인복지 목회의 꿈을 갖고 정리하며 나아가고 있다.
설문지 결과물을 노인대학 리더자들에게 보여 주었는데 그들도 함께 놀라했다. 반드시 이 지역의 노인교육의 새로운 틀을 마련해야겠다는 공감대를 형성 한 것만도 결과물의 큰 성과라 말하고 싶다. 앞으로 노령시대를 앞두고 노인들을 위한 교육 프로그램을 정책적으로 연구, 분석, 개발, 보급하여 특히 농촌지역의 노인교육 활성화에 더욱 심혈을 기울여 노인교육이 노인의 생활에 많은 영향력을 끼칠 수 있도록 해야 한다고 본 연구자는 생각한다. 노령시대를 앞두고 노인들을 위한 교육 프로그램을 정책적으로 연구, 분석, 개발, 보급하여 특히 농촌지역의 노인교육 활성화에 더욱 심혈을 기울여 노인교육이 노인의 생활에 많은 영향력을 끼칠 수 있도록 해야 한다고 본 연구자는 생각한다.
본 연구 결과를 통해서 몇 가지 제언을 하고자 한다.
첫째, 노인교육 프로그램의 다양화와 차별화가 요구된다.
둘째, 빠르게 변화하는 사회의 흐름에 노인들도 함께 참여하여 나아갈 수 있는 프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것이다. 특히 노인교육 프로그램을 계획할 때는 노인의 신체적, 심리적, 사회적 특성을 고려한 그 지역에 적합한 프로그램이 요구된다. 실질적으로 도움이 되고 현실적으로 노인이 안고 고민하는 문제를 해결할 수 있는 필요한 교육 프로그램이 무엇보다 절실하다. 본 연구 설문 조사에서도 현 교육 방법에 대하여 묻는 질문에 불만족스럽다 46%, 보통이다 52% 만족스럽다 2%로 나타났다. 고령 사회로 나아가는데 있어서 특히 저소득층의 사회교육 참여 확대와 아울러 건강과 노후에 대한 다각적인 프로그램이 세워져야겠다.
셋째, 노인교육 전문가 양성에 많은 노력과 투자가 필요하다.
교육의 효과를 극대화시키기 위해 정부차원의 재정지원의 확대와 비정부 차원의 민간자원, 노인단체, 종교단체의 지원확충이 요구된다.
앞으로 더 좋은 연구가 계속 수행되어져서 거기에서 나온 결과들이 노인복지나 교육 및 정책에 반영되어야겠다.
