The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Activities of Inquiry Community on changing attitudes of students with nondisability toward students with disability.
The experimental design was a pretest-posttest control group design, and 64 second-grade students in two middle schools of Pusan City were sampled of my own accord and assigned to two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The Activities of Inquiry Community was applied to only experimental group.
Two-typed Test Tools were used for the two groups. One was Questionnaire with 3 components, 36 question items. The other was Open Questionnaire with 6 question items. Open Questionnaire was used for investigating the recognition toward disability and people with disability.
A t-test was done to analyze the collected data through the SPSS 10.0.
The results of this study are as follows:
First, the Activities of Inquiry Community experimental group had a positive change in cognitive, affective, behavioral components of their attitudes, compared with the control group. So the Activities of Inquiry Community had a positive effect on changing components of the attitudes of students with nondisability toward students with disability.
Second, the recognition toward disability and people with disability was changed from negative to positive, from general & common to concrete & professional.
Accordingly, the result of this study suggests that the Activities of Inquiry Community was an effective Mediation Strategy changing attitudes of students with nondisability toward students with disability.
