The study examined the relationship between father's child-rearing behaviors and child's social competence/self-esteem. In order to help the child develop the ability to actively deal with the society, the study tries to analyze the father's child-rearing behaviors by searching for the desirable direction for the father's child-rearing behaviors and helping the child have emotional stability and develop the right idea of their values.
The study was done on 289 students in the 5th and 6 th grade of 5 elementary schools in Daejeon. The collected data was analyzed through the frequency analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation analysis. For the post-hoc, the Duncan's test was used.
In order to analyze the father's child-rearing behaviors, the study used the questionnaire designed by Gyeong-Soon Choi(199!) and the child's social competence was analyzed with the test tool for social competence, which was restructured based on the personality scale of Bum-Mo Jang. The child's self-esteem was analyzed using the analysis tool developed by Bo-Ga Choi and Gwi-Yeon Jeon.
The followings show the results of the study.
