The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among anger expression mode, depression and aggression of high school students and to preview a method that is helping adolescent who have anger, depression or aggression tendency in counseling situation.
To meet those purpose, the problems of this study were as followed :
1. Is there any difference in depression according to the anger expression mode?
2. Is there any difference in aggression according to the anger expression mode?
3. Is there any difference in aggression according to the level of depression?
4. Is there any correlation of anger expression mode, depression, and aggression?
In order to solve the above problems the following hypotheses were set up.
1) Depression will be difference according to the anger expression mode.
2) Aggression will be difference according to the anger expression mode.
3) Aggression will be difference according to the level of depression.
4) There will be correlation between anger expression mode and depression, aggression.
In order to measure the anger expression mode, depression, and aggression, Spielberger's □□Anger Expression Scale□□, Beck's □□Depression Test□□, Buss & Durkee's □□Aggression Test□□ was used.
The subject of this study was 565 students in 1th and 2th grades of five high school students. The data analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, using SPSS 10.0 statistical package program. Also, all statistic values were tested in the level of significant p<.05.
The result of this study were summarized as follows :
First, there were significant difference in depression according to the anger expression mode. According to the anger expression mode, high anger-in and high anger-out group were higher level of depression and high anger-control group were lower level of depression.
Second, there were significant difference in aggression according to the anger expression mode. According to the anger expression mode, high anger-in and high anger-out group were higher level of aggression and high anger-control group were lower level of aggression.
Third, there were significant difference in aggression according to the level of depression. According to the level of depression, depression group rated aggression score as higher than non-depression group.
Fourth, there were significant correlation between anger expression mode and depression, aggression. Specifically examining, in the correlation between the subscale anger expression mode and depression and aggression, depression and aggression significantly positive correlated with anger-in and anger-out, significantly negative correlated with anger-control.
