가정폭력노출 아동 어머니의 자녀양육 경험의 변화과정 = Mothers’ Parenting Experiences for Children Exposed to Domestic Violence

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 가정폭력노출 아동 어머니의 자녀양육 경험에 대한 탐색적 연구이다. 가정폭력에 노출된 경험을 가진 자녀를 둔 10명의 가정폭력피해여성을 심층면접 하고, 근거이론을 활용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 가정폭력노출 아동 어머니의 자녀양육 경험의 핵심범주는 폭력 속에서도 자녀의 성장을 돕고 폭력을 제거하려는 시도를 하면서 자녀의 욕구에 부응하고 자녀와 상호적인 관계를 만들어 가기로 나타났다. 중심현상은 도구적 모성의 강화였고, 가정폭력 및 어머니에 대한 사회적 기대가 인과적 조건, 사회적 개입방향, 가해자의 폭력전략, 자녀의 폭력노출, 폭력의 후유증이 중재적 조건, 자녀의 독립성 증가. 자녀와 거리두기가 작용/상호작용 전략, 관계적 모성의 형성 및 도구적 모성의 재편이 결과로 나타났다. 가정폭력노출 아동 어머니의 자녀양육 경험은 도구적 모성 강화단계, 탈 폭력 시도단계, 모성의 재편단계의 과정을 거쳐 변화하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 실천의 장에서 가정폭력노출 아동의 문제해결을 위하여 어머니의 양육행동에 개입하게 될 경우, 아동의 성과지표를 향상시키는 것을 목적으로 어머니의 도구적 모성을 강화하는 방향보다는 아동과 어머니의 역량을 강화하여 독립적이고 상호적인 관계를 발전시킬 수 있도록 도움으로써 문제의 원인이 되었던 폭력을 제거할 수 있도록 지원할 것을 제안한다. 아울러, 자녀양육에 대한 논의를 특정 시점의 양육행동으로 축소하기 보다는 변화에 열려있는 관계적 속성을 갖는 것으로 확장할 것을 제안한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to examine the existing literature on parenting behaviors of battered mothers and to explore patenting experiences of mothers whose children were exposed to domestic violence. Analysis utilized the ground theory method on the data from in-depth interview with 10 battered mothers whose children were exposed to domestic violence showed the following. The central phenomenon identified was ‘enhanced instrumental mothering’ triggered by ‘domestic violence’ and ‘social expectations on mothers.’ The core category was defined as ‘helping children for their recovery and growth while experiencing domestic violence and developing interactive relationship with children as taking actions to escape from domestic violence. ‘This study expanded the discussion on battered women’s mothering beyond ‘parenting behavior’ by showing the model for battered women’s mothering from the data.
