다차원적 불평등의 세대간 특성：현 노인세대, 베이비붐 세대, 이후 세대의 비교를 중심으로 = Generation and Multidimensional Inequality in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The object of this research is to analyze the aspects of multidimensional inequality between generations in order to identify various demands of welfare in Korea. Using Korea Welfare Panel Study, four dimensions (income, education, health and residential property) were analyzed. The main results are as follows. First, the current elder generation showed the lowest resource level in the dimension of income, education and health, but showed the highest in residential property among generations. Second, the multidimensional inequality within the elder generation seemed to be higher than those in other generations. Third, the common notion that the Baby Boomer generation comparatively has gained more benefits than other generation was not proved. The results of this research imply that the multidimensional policies over generations are need in order to reduce inequality in our society.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국사회의 다양한 복지 욕구를 체계적으로 이해하기 위한 새로운 시도의 하나로서 세대 간에 목도되는 다차원적인 불평등의 양상을 파악하려는 목적에서 출발한다. 한국복지패널 자료를 사용하여 소득, 교육, 건강과 주거자산의 맥락에서 다차원적 불평등을 측정한 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현 노인세대는 소득, 교육, 건강의 차원에서 가장 낮은 자원 수준을 보인 반면, 주거자산의 경우에는 다른 세대에 비해 높은 수준이었다. 둘째, 전체적으로 볼 때의 다차원적 불평등 수준은 현 노인세대의 그것이 다른 세대에 비해 높게 나타남을 확인하였다. 셋째, 베이비붐 세대는 다차원 수준에서의 불평등이 상당한 수준으로 유지되고 있었으며, 주거자산은 현 노인세대에 비해 크게 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 연령효과를 감안할 때 베이비붐 세대가 다른 세대에 비해 상대적으로 혜택 받은 세대라는 통념에 잘 들어맞지 않음을 보여주는 결과이다. 이러한 연구결과를 볼 때, 우리 사회의 불평등을 감소시키기 위해서는 세대에 걸쳐 지속적으로 이뤄지는 다차원적인 정책화가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
