독거노인의 경제적 상실감이 자살생각에 미치는 영향 : 고독감의 조절효과 = The Sense of Loneliness as a Moderator for Relationship between Financial Loss and Suicidal Ideation in Older Adults Living Alone

The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of loneliness in terms of the relationship between the sense of financial loss and suicidal ideation for seniors who live alone. The data were obtained from 526 samples of persons 65 years of age and older living alone in Seoul. Data were analyzed through frequency, percentages, and Cronbach's reliability coefficient using SPSS Amos Programs 20.0. In addition, Ping’s two-step approach was adopted in order to analyze the moderating effect through Spss AMOS 20.0. The major findings were as follows：First, there were significantly positive relationships between the sense of financial loss and suicidal ideation in the elderly living alone. Second, the model proposed by this research, as revised, demonstrated the effectiveness of an analysis of the structural equation model, and illustrated the fact that the sense of loneliness had a moderating effect on the relationship between the financial loss and suicidal ideation. These findings suggest that the sense of financial loss increased the influence of suicidal ideation on loneliness. Using these findings, social work agency for the elderly people, in particular, can be guided in terms of an important strategies for elderly suicidal prevention program.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 독거노인의 경제적 상실감이 자살생각에 미치는 영향에 있어 고독감의 조절효과를 검증하기 위해 실시되었다. 자료의 수집은 서울시의 2개 자치구에서 65세 이상 독거노인 526명을 대상으로 설문조사를 얻었다. 자료는 Spss Amos 20.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였고, 기본적인 자료 분석을 위해 빈도, 백분율, 왜도 및 첨도를 산출하였고, 구조방정식을 통한 조절모형을 검증하기 위해 Ping의 2단계 접근법을 사용하였다. 주요 분석결과 첫째, 독거노인의 경제적 상실감은 자살생각과 유의미한 정적 관계를 보였다. 둘째, 독거노인의 고독감이 자살생각에 통계적으로 유의미한 정적 관계를 나타냈다. 셋째, 독거노인의 경제적 상실감이 자살생각에 미치는 영향에 있어서 고독감의 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 독거노인의 경제적 상실감에 영향을 받는 자살생각은 고독감에 의해 가중된다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 결과는 독거노인의 경제적 상실감에 대한 고독감이 미치는 영향의 중요성을 확인한 것으로 이와 관련된 대책마련에 시사점을 제시한다.
