한국 상담자의 전문업무에 관한 연구 = Tasks of Counselors in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 들어 급증하고 있는 상담에 대한 일반사회의 관심과 요구는 상담자의 역할이나 활동을 통하여 한국사회의 청소년문제, 가정기능의 악화 등에 대한 문제해결과 예방에 대한 기대를 대변한다고 하겠다. 학회의 양적 발전과 상담에 대한 사회적인 관심에 비하여 상담자의 전문성에 대한 연구는 최근 2년간 연구자들의 관심을 받기 시작하였다. 따라서 상담자의 전문직무나 직무영역에 관한 정의, 역할에 대한 합의된 기술이 전무하다. 이에 한국상담자의 전문업무의 성격과 내용을 밝히는 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 청소년 상담원 산하 전국 시·도 청소년 상담기관의 상담자들과 각 대학의 상담소 및 개인상담소 소속의 상담소 및 수련상담자 251명을 대상으로 현재 하고 있는 상담업무와, 전문상담자로서 수행해야한다는 이상적인 전문업무에 대하여 조사하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 상담자의 전문업무는 ① 상담연구, ② 상담행정, ③ 중·장기성인상담, ④ 교육·훈련·자문, ⑤ 단기문제해결상담, ⑥ 기관상담, ⑦ 진로 및 학업상담, ⑧ 사례관리 및 검사활동의 8개로 밝혀졌는데, 현재 상담자들이 수행하고 있는 업무와 이상적인 전문업무 간에 통계적으로 의미 입는 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 대학상담소에서는 중장기성인상담과 진로 및 학업상담을, 대학원 소속 상당자들은 진로 및 학업상담과 단기문제대결상당을, 청소년상담기관에서는 진로 및 학업상담과 기관상담, 상담행정을 주요 전문업무로서 수행하고 있었다. 또한, 개인상담소에서는 중장기성인상당과 교육훈련자문을, 대학교수는 상담연구와 교육·훈련자문을 주요한 전문업무로서 수행하고 있었다. 결론적으로, 한국의 전문상담자들은 상대적으로 연구 및 행정업무 보다는 개입업무(중장기성인상담, 단기문제해결상담, 기관상담)의 비중이 높고, 특히 진로 및 학업 상담을 많이 하고 있다. 그러나 대학원의 상담전공 교육과정내용은 상담개입에 관한 상담접근일 이론위주의 교육이 주로 이루어지고 있는 실정이므로 좀더 실제적이 며, 실습이 보강된 상담전문 교육과정이 필요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the professional tasks performed by counselors in Korea. Among the 720 counselors who participated in the study, data from 251 counselors at university counseling centers, local youth counseling centers, and private centers were examined in the final analysis. Data included demographic data as well perceptions on professional tasks using a counselor activity list. The results show that: 1) A significant level of difference was discovered between the ideal tasks and reality which includes eight major tasks carried out by counselors; ①counseling research, ②administrative tasks, ③mid-term and long-term adult counseling services, ④education and training services for counseling trainees as well as consultation, ⑤short-term problem solving counseling, ⑥counseling services for agencies/institutions, ⑦career counseling and study skills counseling, and ⑧case management and psychological testing. 2) There was a difference between types of tasks performed by counselors depending on their affiliation. University counseling centers focused on mid-term and long-term adult counseling and short-term problem solving counseling, while youth counseling centers performed job or study related counseling, counseling services for agencies/institutions, and administrative tasks. Private centers provided mid-term and long-term adult counseling services as well as education, training, and consultation. University faculty undertook counseling research, education, training, and consultation.
