The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family health perceived by children and emotional intelligence on their school adjustment and whether emotional intelligence mediated in the relationship between family health and school adjustment. A survey was conducted on 371 elementary school students (5th and 6th graders) in Seoul and Structural Equation Modeling was used to analyze. The major findings were as follows: First, family health perceived by children was found to have effects on their school adjustment. Second, children`s emotional intelligence was found to have effects on their school adjustment. Finally, emotional intelligence was found to have partial mediating effects in the relation of family health and school adjustment. Based on the results, discussions regarding to improve children`s school adjustment were made. The specific plans and ways to improve family health and to develop emotional intelligence of children were also suggested.
