다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Cold War was a global conflict, but this does not mean that the conflict was experienced in an identical way globally. One important difference in the experience of the Cold War is found between post-World War II Europe and the decolonizing world in Asia and elsewhere. This essay argues that understanding these differences is pivotal to understanding Cold War history as a global history. In this regard, it also asks why contemporary Cold War studies and current interests in postcolonial history and culture have failed to combine.
