아동기의 정서적 학대 경험이 대인관계 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Emotional Abuse in Childhood on Interpersonal Problem-Solving Skills: Mediated by Self-Efficacy and Locus of Control

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of emotional abuse in childhood on interpersonal problem-solving skills as well as to assess the mediating effect of self-efficacy and locus of control in the relationship between emotional abuse and interpersonal problem-solving skills. 359 Korean undergrauate students completed the emotional abuse questionnaires, Self-Efficacy Scale, Internal-External Locus of Control Scale, Social Problem-Solving Inventory. The result showed significant negative correlations among emotional abuse, interpersonal problem-solving skills and self-efficacy. While external locus of control had positive correlation with emotional abuse. A simple regression showed a significant effect of emotional abuse on interpersonal problem-solving skills, self-efficacy and locus of control. Also, a hierarchical strategy in multiple regression was completed to assess the mediating effect of self-efficacy and locus of control. The result indicated that both self-efficacy and locus of control mediated the effect of emotional abuse on interpersonal problem-solving skills. Self-efficacy showed a greater mediating effect than locus of control. Based on the findings, the result suggests that emotional abuse influences on interpersonal problem-solving skills through the medium of internal individual disposition not directely. Implication to understandings and therapeutic interventions for abuse were discussed. Limitations of the current study and the suggestions for further research were offered.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 아동기의 정서적 학대 경험이 대인관계 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 정서적 학대가 대인관계 문제해결능력에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 자기효능감과 통제소재의 매개 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 대학교에서 대학생 366명(남학생 230명, 여학생 129명)을 대상으로 정서적 학대 척도, 자기효능감 척도, 통제소재 척도, 대인관계 문제해결능력 척도를 사용하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 정서적 학대가 대인관계 문제해결능력과 자기효능감 및 통제소재에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 단순 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 정서적 학대 경험은 대인관계 문제해결능력과 자기효능감에 부정적 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었으며, 외적통제의 발달과 관계가 있었다. 정서적 학대가 대인관계 문제해결능력에 영향을 주는 과정에서 자기효능감과 통제소재가 매개변인의 역할을 하는지 알아보기 위해 위계적 중다회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 자기효능감과 통제소재 모두 정서적 학대가 대인관계 문제해결에 미치는 매개하는 것으로 나타났고, 매개효과는 통제소재보다 자기효능감의 매개효과가 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 자기효능감과 통제소재의 매개 효과와 관련하여 볼 때, 본 연구의 결과는 병리적 거부적 양육 형태로 간주되는 부모로부터의 정서적 학대 경험이 사회 인지적 발달의 한 지표로 볼 수 있는 대인관계 문제해결능력에 직접적인 영향을 주기 보다는 개인내적인 심리 정서적 발달을 통해 영향을 준다는 것을 보여준다. 이러한 연구 결과가 상담 및 치료적 개입에 시사하는 바와 본 연구의 제한점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논의하였다.
