내면화된 수치심과 방어유형, 정서표현의 관계 = The Relationship of Internalinzed Shame,Defense Style and Emotional Expressiveness

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated how the internalized shame, defense style, and emotional expressiveness among Korean College students. It also examined the mediation effect of personal defense style on shame, emotional expressiveness, ambivalence over overt emotion expressiveness. The subjects were a total of 302 college students located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. For data process, correlation analysis was used to examine the relation among the internalized shame, defense style, and emotional expressiveness. Hierarchical regression analysis was implemented to assess the mediation effect of defense style over the internalized shame and emotional expressiveness. And to verify the mediation model, route analysis using SPSS 12.0 was implemented. The results of the study are as follows: First, the higher the students' internalized shame level was, the more they used defence mechanism like avoidance, withdrawal, projection, passive-aggressiveness, acting out. Second, there was a significant negative correlation between emotion awareness, expressiveness and internalized shame. Third, through implementing hierarchical regression analysis and routine analysis, it was shown that in the process through which defense style had a part mediation effect on internalized shame, emotion expressiveness, inability of emotion awareness, ambivalence over emotion expressiveness. Implications for counseling practice and future research were suggested

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 내면화된 수치심과 방어유형, 정서표현의 관계가 어떠한지를 확인해보고자 했다. 그리고 수치심과 정서인식불능, 정서표현에 대한 양가감정, 그리고 외적인 정서표현성의 관계에서 개인의 방어유형이 매개효과를 가지는지를 알아보았다. 연구의 대상은 서울과 수도권소재에 재학 중인 남녀대학생 302명이었다. 자료 처리는 내면화된 수치심, 정서표현성, 정서표현에 대한 양가감정, 방어유형 간의 관계를 파악하기 위해 상관분석을 하였다. 그리고 방어유형이 수치심과 정서관련 변인들 사이에 매개효과가 있는지 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 절차를 따라 위계적 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수치심 수준이 높은 대학생은 자기억제적 방어와 갈등회피적 방어 뿐 아니라, 투사, 수동공격, 행동화방어 역시 더 많이 사용하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 수치심수준이 높은 사람은 낮은 사람보다 자신의 정서를 알아차리는 능력 및 외적인 표현성이 유의미하게 낮고 정서를 표현하는 것에 대한 양가감정은 유의미하게 높다는 것이 확인되었다. 셋째, 방어유형은 수치심과 정서인식불능, 정서표현에 대한 양가감정, 외적인 정서표현간의 부분 매개가 나타났고, 자기억제적 방어와 갈등회피적 방어가 정서표현성에서는 완전매개를 보였다. 분석결과에 대해 선행연구와 관련하여 논의하고, 연구의 의의와 한계 및 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시했다.
