북핵 20년과 한미동맹 = ‘주어진’ 분단 vs.‘선택적’ 분단

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

After the recent North Korea’s nuclear test of Feb. 12, 2013, the more people began to have skeptical position on the possibility of the denuclearization of the North Korean nuclear program. During the cold war period the divided condition of the Korean peninsula was a given security structure driven by the international level cold war competition. In the meantime the Korea’s divided condition in the post-cold war period can be interpreted as a consequence by the North Korean regime’s survival strategy. Of course the 20 years of nuclear development has been centered the survival strategy of North Korea. If someone believes that the success of ROK-US alliance ironically justifies crisis and provocation of North Korea, we need to develop more creative North Korea policy applicable to the post-cold war divided structure of the Korean peninsula. Most importantly, the future of the ROK-US alliance has to cooperate the creation of the security community in Northeast Asian region.
