사회적 경제를 통한 지역혁신의 가능성과 한계 = 마을기업과 협동조합을 중심으로

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article focuses on the local innovation through the Social Economy(SE), such as community businesses and cooperatives. Firstly, the social economy organizations, which are recently introduced and supported by the government in South Korea, should be managed not separately but wholistically within the context of the whole social economy. The social economy organizations has emerged and developed by themselves voluntarily in the course of solving many social problems in a community, which its local residents has faced in a capitalist economy. This article also emphasizes that we can find this aspect in the development of community businesses and cooperatives in Kocea. Another emphasis of this article is on the expectations of local innovation through the activation of social economy organizations in three aspects. First, SE is very innovative in that deserted human and material resources of a community can be utilized through it. Second, SE is so innovative in that it solves many long-term social and local problem, such as unemployment, new social needs, community activations and etc. Third, SE is quite innovative in that it operates with a mechanism different than that of profit organizations. It is based on democratic participation and solidarity, having the same orientation toward the whole community interests. Albeit these expectations of the local innovation through the activation of SE, there are two limitations. First, the social outcome as the result of social economy has not been counted in the evaluation of the social economy organizations. Second, inward and outward partnership problems are still remaining as a more fundamental issue. These limitations must be overcome for the activation of social economy.
